TUIDE Is Ready to Turn the Tide
Joining HYBE’s roster of artists is TUIDE, the company’s newest K-pop girl group. They consist of seven members: Seohee (leader), Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Seah, and Yi Hani (maknae), with their ages ranging from 15 to 19 years old. Mirroring how global K-pop has become in the past decade, TUIDE’s members come from different parts of the world, with Elena being American, Jia being Korean-American, Yi Hani being Korean-British, and Saki hailing from Japan. Also, Seoyeon is related to K-pop royalty as she’s the younger sister of TWICE’s Jihyo.
Their name, TUIDE, comes from the phrase “Tune the tide”, which is a reference to the group’s vision of using the members’ different personas and personalities into one singular cohesive focus and output. It marries both individuality and collectivity to empower the members’ unique styles while redirecting them to a common goal.

Aside from being HYBE’s newest K-pop girl group, TUIDE also makes history as the first artist formed by ABD, a label under Pledis Entertainment and HYBE created in May 2026. Pledis is famously known for being the home of K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN, and all of TUIDE’s members entered HYBE as trainees under Pledis. For a time, fans speculated that they would become Pledis’ new girl group, but that shifted when HYBE announced the formation of ABD, which is said to specialize in girl groups.
The label’s name is inspired by how the sub-label hopes to defy expectations by going from A to B then D instead of the usual B to C. Pledis Entertainment’s founder Han Sung-soo, who also has experience working with acts such as After School and IZ*ONE, will serve as TUIDE’s executive producer and take the lead on the group’s music, concepts, and performances.
The group debuted on August 24 with the release of their first EP Tune & Play along with the title track Sun Kiss. Reflecting the group’s playful and free-spirited energy, their debut’s visuals and music present a fun and joyful Gen Z expression where youthfulness, individuality, and camaraderie are in sync. Given HYBE’s track record and Pledis’ reputation, TUIDE has the potential to turn the tide, or at least cause a ripple, but let’s just hope that these young girls don’t suffer the same fate as some of their peers.
