Dolly De Leon is on an unstoppable streak this year. Adding to her growing list of projects—and much to everyone’s surprise—is the Netflix live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.
Following the massive success of its first season, anticipation for the next season has been sky-high. Avatar has been making waves since 2005, captivating audiences of all ages with its dynamic characters, epic action scenes, and relatable and timeless themes. Now, with a Filipino veteran actress joining the cast, there’s even more reason for Filipinos to be excited about this series.

The veteran actress is set to play not just one but two characters—Lo and Li, identical twins who mentor and advise Azula, the fierce princess of the Fire Nation. Taking on twin roles would be a difficult task for anyone, but the Golden Globe nominee is fired up for this opportunity. “It’s my first time to play twins, which is the best fun in a creative process. It’s a dream come true,” De Leon shared excitedly.
Not only will De Leon get to flex her dramatic range, but it’ll also be interesting to see her essentially interact with herself on screen — swapping lines, comedic timing, and intense moments alongside Elizabeth Yu, who plays Azula.

De Leon has shaken the ground in Hollywood and beyond, proving that Filipino talent deserves a seat at the global table. From her mysterious role in Nine Perfect Strangers to the highly anticipated Netflix series, she’s opening doors for more Asian and Filipino actors in international productions.
The critically acclaimed actress’s casting in Avatar: The Last Airbender is a milestone for representation—a moment for Filipino audiences to cheer for, as our stories and talent continue to shine on one of the world’s biggest stages.
