You would think Fiziwoo is the name of beverage or a rock band, but in Malaysia, and increasingly around the globe, Fiziwoo is known as being the go-to fashion label. ehind the brand are Fizi, or Mohd Hafizi Radzi Woo, perhaps one of the only color-blind designers in the world who have earned such a level of prestige, and his co-designer and the brand’s Managing Director Izree “Kai” Haffiz.

When Fizi designs, his process begins with an emotion or a story.

“I grew up in Penang in a multicultural family where art and community were part of everyday life,” begins Fizi. “From a young age, I was drawn to form and movement, which later shaped my design language. Being color-blind challenged meto focus on structure, texture and emotion rather than shades. I pursued my studies at Universiti Teknologi MARA in Fashion Design and Textile & Weaving. My journey has been one of resilience and turning limitations into strengths that define my creativity.”

the duo of fiziwoo describes their clothing as sculptural, emotional, timeless and designed with clarity and

Kai also comes from a background of a strong interest in creativity, albeit from a traditional Asian family which expected him to pursue a ‘professional’ career. “I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, where creativity was always a part of my imagination,” he says. “I explored photography, interior design, furniture design and branding, always searching for ways to express my creativity. When I was introduced to fashion, it struck me as the medium where I could merge structure with emotion. After working briefly as an architect in Singapore, I decided to take a leap of faith and, together with Fizi, built what is now Fiziwoo.”

Fizi’s inspirations come from history, art “and the quiet strength of women.

Fiziwoo began in 2009 after a conversation over coffee between Fizi and Kai. “Our journey began during university days through batik competitions, which funded our first sewing machine, and our earliest clients were friends. From there, our work caught the attention of socialites and fashion enthusiasts who were eager for refreshing ideas,” says Kai. Fiziwoo eventually joined Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, “which opened doors to larger audiences. Along the way, we developed multiple lines of ready-to-wear, couture, and artisanal collections, with the latter focusing on preserving Southeast Asian heritage textiles like songket,” says Fizi.

The duo mentions authenticity as being of utmost importance, whether in the way they use the materials that define the structure of the clothing,

Although the brand is rooted in Malaysian culture and believes in preserving tradition, it aims to speak of a larger universal story to the public. It also honors the artisans who bring its visions to life. Says Fizi, “At its core, Fiziwoo stands for heritage, emotion, and empowerment. More than fashion, Fiziwoo is about giving people the courage to embrace their truth unapologetically.” Kai expounds,“We stand for innovation grounded in culture. We have always believed in pushing boundaries without losing sight of where we come from. The brand is about balance, structure and softness, heritage and modernity, individuality and community. We strive to represent Malaysia with pride while speaking to a global audience.”
