The Business of Fashion’s annual selection of influential figures brings good news for us.

Archie G. Carrasco, Chairman and CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corp., joins The BoF 500 Class of 2026 under Media, becoming the fifth Filipino inducted after Stephen Gan, Bryan Yambao, Mark “Jappy” Gonzalez, and Anton Tantoco Huang. His place among this year’s 100 new members marks another milestone for the Philippines, amid a strong Asian presence on the list.

South Korea is represented by all four members of aespa, with Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning already developing individual fashion identities alongside Prada, Loewe, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Gucci, respectively. Thailand celebrates Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornnaphat, while Japan sees Nigo and 2025 LVMH Prize winner Soshi Otsuki selected this year.

Further west, athletes Naomi Osaka and Eileen Gu are also included. Teyana Taylor, Heated Rivalry stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, and many more form part of the new inductees spanning forty-seven nationalities.

When Sari V. Yap released MEGA’s inaugural issue in 1992—the Philippines’ first homegrown glossy fashion magazine—there was no way of knowing which designers would eventually become institutions or how completely the way we consume fashion would change. MEGA could, however, make its own bets on what came next and introduce readers to the designers its editors saw a future in.

Decades later, as the local publishing scene grew larger, more magazines emerged with distinct points of view. Keeping MEGA ahead of this increasingly competitive landscape became Peewee Reyes-Isidro’s responsibility after Sari Yap chose her as the new Editor-in-Chief. Eleven years under the Founding Editor had prepared her for the role, but longevity demanded that MEGA evolve with its readers. Its legacy eventually found new ground in digital publishing, where a new generation could discover the discerning eye Yap had cultivated and passed down through its editorial ranks.

With his The BoF 500 accomplishment, Archie G. Carrasco sits at one of the highest tables in the global business of fashion, in good company with a remarkable contingent from this side of the world. It’s an achievement that’s both personal and collective, as it’s proof of how much can begin from nurturing a small idea.

But as we see it, there’s more ahead than this. The magazines behind him, including us—the title that started it all—are already deciding what comes next.
