Leave it to Sodiqin Shaz to turn a reminder about living in the present into couture. The Malaysian designer’s label SHAZNASH presented Running Out of Time, a 22-look collection inspired by impermanence and the shifting colors of a sunset, for its second consecutive appearance at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week.
The title is taken quite literally. Hundreds of reclaimed watches appear throughout the collection, transforming old timepieces into sculptural elements across the body. Miss Charm 2024 winner Rashmita Rasindran opened the show covered in them, instantly establishing that Shaz had no intention of approaching the concept timidly.

From there, white silhouettes transitioned into red and black as the runway followed the fading light of day. SHAZNASH’s signature corsetry remained prominent across the womenswear and menswear, joined by draped evening gowns and highly constructed forms.
Of course, everyone has heard some version of the advice to savor the moment. Remembering to actually do it is another story, especially when daily life keeps us sprinting toward the next obligation. Thus, Shaz offers another alternative: why not wear couture? If time is slipping away anyway, you might as well mark its passing in something exquisite. If nothing lasts, why save the good clothes for a future that hasn’t arrived yet?
Indonesian actress, model, and Puteri Indonesia 2013 winner Whulandary Herman closed the presentation in a sculptural hourglass containing real sand. Subtle? Absolutely not. A collection called Running Out of Time has little reason to be coy.
For its second KLFW outing, SHAZNASH turns a familiar reflection into one of its most visually committed stories yet. Life will continue moving toward the next big occasion. Just remember to take a page from Sodiqin Shaz’s book: tonight deserves a good dress, too.
