PFW S/S27 Beauty Report: It’s All About Making a Statement

Smudged lips, sculptural manes, and technicolor eyes: this season, the Paris runways are turning the volume all the way up on beauty.

By

If there’s anything Fashion Month has proven, it’s that beauty is moving beyond the ultra-refined and the perfectly polished. In their place are bolder colors, messier textures, and more room for experimentation. Paris Fashion Week embraced the shift, adding its own signature sophistication to the season’s anything-goes approach. Because when it comes to beauty, why settle for less?

The Pout and Nothing Else

Red, black, lilac, or glitter—pick your pout. This season, the lip isn’t just the finishing touch; it’s the main event. The red lip theory made its way to the runways of Lanvin, Victoria Beckham, and Tom Ford, proving that a classic crimson pout still knows how to command attention. Dries Van Noten, meanwhile, experimented with multiple colors on a single lip, while Schiaparelli went bold with black.

At Vaquera, lips became a kaleidoscope of color, while Cecilie Bahnsen added a dusting of glitter for a little extra sparkle. Subtlety can sit this one out.

Artfully Imperfect

Dare to be a mess. At Miu Miu, being a Miu Miu girl means embracing a little disarray, from artfully tousled hair to deliberately messy manicures. Valentino, meanwhile, made the case for the lived-in lip, with color softly blurred at the edges as though it had worn away naturally throughout the day. These looks prove that beauty doesn’t always have to be pristine to feel intentional.

Sleek, Glossy, Structural Manes

Not every look needs to be undone. At Carven, hair took on a sleek, glossy finish, with a pencil-like accessory adding an unexpected detail to the carefully styled look. Tom Ford, meanwhile, kept things close to the head with a slicked-back, low-slung style that felt almost architectural. Clean lines, reflective finishes, and sculpted shapes gave these manes a sense of precision, proving that polished hair can be just as striking as its messier counterpart.

Full Glam

2016 called, and the runways were ready to answer. At Junya Watanabe, full glam returned with theatrical flair, pairing sculptural coils with dramatic eye makeup and a bold lip. Maison Margiela took the drama further with sharply defined cut creases, red-toned contour, and precisely sculpted brows. The result was makeup that played with exaggeration, precision, and performance.

Eye Details

Sometimes, the smallest details make the biggest impact—and this season, the eyes had plenty to say. Dior added silver accents to the gaze, from metallic eyeliner to chunky glitter wings that caught the light. At Jean Paul Gaultier, brown liner along the waterline offered a more understated take, showing how a subtle definition can change the entire look. Mugler went in the opposite direction, with long, fluttering lashes that seemed almost ready to take flight. Whether barely there or impossible to miss, these details proved that eye makeup doesn’t need to be complicated to make a statement.

One Shade Wonder

Everyday neutrals can take a backseat. This season, the runways made room for vivid shades that do all the talking, proving that sometimes, one color is all you need. Valentino brought a wash of blue to the beauty look, while Akris turned to lilac and Lacoste played with terracotta orange. Whether worn as a soft veil of color or a more pronounced statement, these shades offer an easy way to step outside the usual rotation of warm browns and muted neutrals. No elaborate color combinations required—just one shade, worn with confidence.

According to Paris Fashion Week, beauty doesn’t have to choose between polished and playful, refined and rebellious, or wearable and wildly imaginative. A bold lip can be the entire statement, a smudged manicure can be just as intentional, and a single swipe of color can transform an otherwise understated look. After all, this season, it’s all about more is more.
