Among the list of adjectives used to describe Filipino designer Veejay Floresca, “clear-eyed” fits best, especially after the unveiling of her F/W26 lineup at New York Fashion Week. “Every collection starts with intention and purpose for me,” she tells MEGA. “For this one, I asked myself: should I go conceptual or accessible? Ultimately, I decided to create beautiful, well-made clothes that make people feel good and look good.”

Her choice reveals exactly where she stands with her career. While crafting complex, avant-garde pieces is well within her capability, Floresca’s priorities lean toward the wearable. Even for fall, she opted for a bold palette inspired by the abstract paintings of Willem de Kooning.

“I wanted to express my love for tailoring and menswear while embracing the idea of gender neutrality,” she adds. “These suits can absolutely be worn by women as well. My goal was to modernize classic suiting by introducing rich textures and unexpected colors, giving traditional silhouettes a fresh and contemporary edge.”

Texture became its own language throughout her line. When asked what energy she wants the wearer to experience, her answer arrives without hesitation: “Sexy, confident, and gorgeous.”

But she doesn’t stop there. Floresca has always been a consistent advocate of inclusivity. One could even say that her devotion to the cause is second nature. To her, diversity isn’t a revolutionary concept that needs fanfare because it’s already her default standard. “I want to show that I’m not a designer who works for only one specific age group, demographic, or race. Fashion is for everyone,” she shares.

A Sense of Belonging

That devotion extends to the community that has followed her since the beginning. She’s aware that many see their own potential reflected in her story. Her trajectory—from Manila, to Project Runway, and now New York—serves as a blueprint for those following in her footsteps. When asked what she hopes they take away from her latest work, her focus remains on the human element.

“I want them to feel like they belong. Fashion should be a safe space for all of us.”

It’s validating. Time and time again, Veejay Floresca chooses to celebrate people in all their forms. And as she continues to ascend, she remains determined to uplift those around her.
