Leading lady and MEGA cover girl Ashtine Olviga made a stunning appearance at the first-ever Filipino Music Awards to present the People’s Choice Award for Song. Dressed in a luscious bodice with butterfly sleeves and an arresting gold column skirt, she once again proved why she embodies her Woman to Watch title.
MEGA caught up with her stylist Patty Yap, who walked us through the story and the details behind the Ulysses Caragayan creation.

Global Popstar
While the FMAs called for Filipino silhouettes, Yap interpreted the dress code through an edgier lens—showcasing the bold side of Olviga, a dazzling shift from her signature leading-lady sweetness. “I wanted her to channel a popstar vibe—fun, bold, and full of energy,” Yap shared. Young designer Ulysses Caragayan brought that vision to life, giving the actress the striking presence they envisioned: a modern Filipina with the spirit of a global popstar.

The Modern Filipina
“The gown created for Ashtine Olviga is a statement of modern elegance, designed to highlight her youthful yet commanding presence,” Yap explained. The butterfly sleeves were reimagined with contemporary edge to echo her regal poise while staying true to her roots. The black velvet bodice, with its dramatic sweetheart neckline, exuded sophistication and subtle sensuality. Meanwhile, the gold sequin column skirt shimmered with every move, mirroring the actress’s radiance.
Each element of the gown was deliberate, from the interplay of black and gold to the clean, structured lines that amplified Olviga’s natural charm. “This creation is not only a showcase of design but also a reflection of Ashtine Olviga herself: radiant, strong, and a true representation of the modern Filipina,” the stylist shared.

She allows me to pour all my creative energy into her, and together we’ve created looks that are both beautiful and memorable.
– Patty Yap on working with Ashtine Olviga
Yap and Olviga’s creative partnership has always been built on trust. “Ashtine is such an easy muse to work with. She gives me full freedom with her look, and that’s something I truly value,” the stylist reflected. She emphasized that her priority is always the actress’s comfort and confidence: “Fashion and style are subjective; you can’t please everyone. What matters most is that Ashtine feels happy and confident in what she’s wearing. As long as she’s satisfied, that’s already success in my eyes.”
