As Filipino actress Ashtine Olviga rises to new heights, her dreams grow clearer and bolder. Before shifting her focus to acting, she shared her artistry through music, winning “Born To Be A Star” in 2016. Her win led her to P-pop, joining U Go Girls in 2017, PPop Generation in 2019, and LITZ in 2021.

In 2018, she appeared in Miss Granny, Will You Be My Ex? and The Ship Show in 2023, and Sunny and Roadtrip in 2024. Nine years after entering the industry, she broke through as the leading lady in Ang Mutya ng Section E, Viva One’s Wattpad adaptation.

A Pearl in the Making

An oyster takes months, sometimes years, to form a priceless pearl between its shell—much like Olviga, who has slowly come into her own as an artist. “It was in my first lead role in Ang Mutya ng Section E where I realized how happy I was,” the rising actress expressed. “And it was there that I realized how much I love what I do.”

She credits her co-actor Andres Muhlach for grounding her thoughout the series. “At first I was really nervous, but as we were shooting, I eventually grew comfortable with him,” the actress reflected. More than just a love team, AshDres has found its rhythm—two rising stars learning to grow alongside each other.

Olviga’s character, Jay-jay, shakes up the all-male classroom as the only girl. Headstrong, defiant, and chaos incarnate, it’s easy to see why the actress feels so strongly about her character. “She’s a fighter, especially when she knows she’s right,” she said, describing a trait she has embraced.

The Power to Inspire

The world is her oyster, as they say. With her recent success in a coming-of-age series—and a recent film with Muhlach, Minamahal—it begs the question: What’s next for the rising star?

With new opportunities unfolding for the actress, she’s determined to explore as much as she can. “As a soft girl, I want to try action, because I want to see a different side of me—a toughness, if it exists in me,” Olviga chuckled. “But I also want to try inspirational movies, the kind that after the audience watches, they learn something and get inspired.”

More than a desire to explore genres, Olviga aspires to inspire her audience. That is where her artistry is rooted—because if her dreams can come true, so can the people who look up to her.  “I want to inspire my audience to be the best version of themselves,” the Woman to Watch declared. “With everything that’s happening on social media, we think of ourselves as small and irrelevant. I want to prove them wrong.”

“You’re enough and you’re beautiful—you just have to accept it and love yourself.”

Growth takes courage and patience—qualities that Ashtine Olviga clearly has, especially with nine years in the industry. Beyond the roles she plays, her true artistry lies in uplifting others. Through Jay-jay, she fights for what’s right and sparks change, and reminds her audience that they, too, can shine on their own time. For this rising star, the dream isn’t to succeed; it’s to inspire.
