What’s in a bag? At first, it’s purely practical—you count your essentials, tuck them inside, and go about your routine. But over time, something shifts: the grooves on the flap catch your eye, the leather brushing your fingers offers a different sensation, and the logo you once took for granted now has you studying its maker’s history.

This was Jay-Ann Bincal’s realization. What was once a simple and casual love for the pieces that filled her closet had evolved into a successful career fueled by passion. It was a journey intimately shaped by curiosity—the act of answering Why not? in a field that often felt out of reach.

The House Was Built to Be Welcoming

“I realized a lot of women were curious about luxury but felt like it was a world that wasn’t meant for them. It felt intimidating”, Jay-Ann recounts. “Instead of keeping [love for luxury] private, I decided to open that world of mine. I started sharing what I knew. Slowly, it became a community. And eventually, that community became Purse Maison.”

This woman-led house took time to build. Its foundations were set years ago. As she began to sell pre-loved items such as bags and watches from home, it exposed her to many a client’s preferences. From there, the instinct to observe was born. She’d ask herself: what materials were used, and whose vision crafted this? A fascination took hold. The almost insatiable need to know luxury.

Even before the business, she put time into reading. Niche details and brand identity were treated like case studies. Jay-Ann understood that appreciation took diligence and she applied that thoroughly.

From trendy eye-catchers to leather that feels ageless, every bag has a story worth telling.

First She Was Curious, Then She Curated

“In luxury resale, trust is everything.” Her love for luxury bags could not achieve things singlehandedly. Authenticity was her first, non-negotiable partner. If certain deals with some clients felt off, then she decided to walk away. If a brand demanded more research or professional authenticators required extra resources, then she’d invest further. These were the building blocks that fashioned the credibility inherent to Purse Maison’s quality of luxury.

Her muscle memory for observation was built in stages. First was acknowledging how difficult it was for many women to indulge in luxury. Then, she’d set up a larger business model built around pre-loved cycles. Bags left alone in closets would be collected, cataloged, and shown to others that would fall in love with them. Attainable, sustainable, and a tangible way to involve others? Count her in.

Listening was a conscious act of intention for Jay-Ann. In front of online enthusiasts and collectors, she’d keep an open ear for industry information. When a client came, she’d prioritize questions over everything else. What’s their favorite color? Is there a common size they gravitate to? What exactly are they looking for?

It isn’t just about reselling. For Jay-Ann, it’s about leaving the door open for other enthusiasts.

These Bags Are Repurposed with Love

Ask Jay-Ann what her favorite piece is and it feels like it fits her just right. It’s Louis Vuitton. “It was the moment I realized that a bag can carry history, craftsmanship, and heritage.” While some bags flash brightest in trends, the bags she loves—by extension resold in her business, remain timeless.

Today, her belief remains simple as it is poignant. People connect with people. One woman excitedly drops a crafter’s tidbit on her Hermès piece, and the other quickly wishlists it. Another dreams of the Chanel 2.55 bag as her iconic piece, and it’s clear that versatile elegance remains a top priority in the market.

Whether the client is a seasoned collector or a first-time buyer, her shared earnestness guides the client to a place that values curiosity. For Jay-Ann, that’s the perfect place to start. “Many people simply enjoy learning about the craftsmanship, the stories behind the brands, and the design. Everyone’s journey is different. Ownership can come later.”

Watch how she appears online for her brand, like a hobbyist sharing her passions. Visit their new showroom and chart her journey as you browse. Know that her spirit for entrepreneurship started from a place not so different from many women out there: a love for the bags in her closet.

The next time you step into Purse Maison, don’t just explore what’s waiting for you in luxury. Retrace the steps of the woman who faced it unafraid and said: this is wonderful, and this is for everyone.
