Gird your loins because in a little over two weeks, the world is about to witness the release of one of the most anticipated movies of 2026, The Devil Wears Prada 2. Over the past twenty years, the original film has become a modern classic and a staple of the fashion film sub-genre. It continues to find new fans to this day, and the sequel will undoubtedly be the talk of the town when it comes to cinemas at the end of April.
But even if there are still a couple of weeks to go before the movie’s release, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has already been meeting the moment thanks to its ongoing press tour and news and tidbits that have been slowly dropping. Time will only tell whether the sequel will live up to the hype, but already, we’re liking what we’re seeing.

The Movie Will Feature a Diverse Cast of Models

Unlike the initial reception of the first film, the sequel has been embraced with open arms by the wider fashion world. That meant, among other things, that the production was able to film at actual fashion shows in Milan Fashion Week. But it was during those shooting days that led to a key change to expect from the film.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Meryl Streep recounted how she and Anne Hathaway noticed how thin the models were while shooting at a Dolce and Gabbana show. “I was struck by how not only beautiful and young—everyone seems young to me—but alarmingly thin the models were….I thought that all had been addressed years ago. Annie clocked it too,” she told the publication.
This, according to the three-time Oscar winner, made Hathaway approach the producers to ensure that the models featured in the movie wouldn’t be as skinny. “She made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She’s a stand-up girl,” Streep shared. How this will look in the actual movie, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s nice seeing how the film is going with the mindset that fashion, especially in this day and age, should be a lot more diverse, and that models can come in all shapes and sizes.
The Press Tour Looks
For a movie like The Devil Wears Prada 2, it’s expected that the press tour will be a non-stop train of fashion. So far, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep have been doing just that. The two lead stars are currently on a global press tour for the movie, with recent stops at Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. And just like the fictional magazine their characters work at, Hathaway and Streep have been stepping out in designer across the world. From Schiaparelli, Valentino, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Prada, Saint Laurent, and more, they’ve been showing out with looks worthy of the pages of Runway.
It’s also during the press tour where we’ve gotten a few fun moments, such as Hathaway remembering &TEAM member K at the Tokyo stop, Streep and Hathaway meeting IVE’s Wonyoung, and the two stars receiving special custom red heels inspired by the ones seen on the movie’s poster but reinterpreted with a traditional Korean design in Seoul.
With two more stops left on the press tour, New York City and London, we’ll be looking forward to even more ensembles as well as the film’s other stars, like Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, to strut their stuff.
The References Spotted
The Devil Wears Prada is loved for many reasons, and one of those is its many quotable lines and scenes. Arguably, the most iconic is Miranda’s legendary takedown of Andy about the color cerulean. So, it was only right for Streep to reference her iconic character and memorable monologue. During an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the actress wore a cerulean sweater similar to what Andy wore in the movie. Though this is Miranda Priestly we’re talking about, so the sweater Streep wore was custom-made by J. Crew.
Not one to be outdone, Hathaway also referenced the popular Chanel boots lines in a caption of one of her social media posts when she wore Stella McCartney boots to the Mexico City stop of the press tour.
Filipina Excellence Meets The Devil Wears Prada

To add a touch of Filipina style to The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Curtis and Mimiyuuuh were invited to the Tokyo press tour of the film to bring their star power to the event. For Curtis, she showed up and showed out in a black Chanel look with white and gold detailing that was equal parts simple and chic. For Mimiyuuuh, she kept it local with a red Sacasas trench coat that was paired with black gloves, a gold Celine belt, and Loewe balloon heels for a touch of edge.
What made the moment even better was that both of them were able to interview Streep and Hathaway separately. For her interview, Mimiyuuuh wore a red RUBIO dress inspired by the red James Holt dress the fictional designer made specifically for Miranda Priestly in the first movie, earning praise from both Streep and Hathaway, who quickly caught the reference. Mimiyuuuh also received props from both actresses for her Loewe balloon pumps.
It was a short but fun chat, with a highlight being when Mimiyuuuh talked about the impact the first movie has had on the LGBTQIA+ community and asked the actresses what they thought about the film’s support from the community. “There would be no fashion in the world without the LGBTQ community,” Streep said, which has since gone viral on social media. “I don’t know if we would have a sequel without the support of the LGBTQ community who have embraced this film so much,” added Hathaway.
For Curtis, the interview wasn’t just a meeting between two Annes, but an insightful conversation from one actress to two others that revolved around pursuing dreams, the evolution of fashion, and the power of influence in the digital age.
“What we’re learning about our digital devices [is the] assessment it makes. It’s all very ephemeral. And so you are canceled one day and everybody’s moved on, you know, 200 swipes further,” said Streep when asked about what true influence means to her. “I’m so lucky that I had nothing but a mirror to show me what I didn’t like about myself. My mother always said you are what you do with your life.” Added Hathaway, “You are allowed to turn your phone off, walk away from it, and go for a walk.”
You Can Buy an Actual Print Copy of Runway Magazine
At the heart of The Devil Wears Prada universe is the fictional fashion magazine Runway. So, as part of the upcoming sequel’s promo campaign, they made actual print copies of Runway Magazine available at select locations in Los Angeles and New York City and online via Runway’s website. On the cover of the Spring Issue is Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton, Miranda’s former assistant turned high-powered executive, and the fact that she’s on the cover signifies the big role she’ll play in the sequel.
If you can’t get your hands on a copy, you can still browse their website, which looks like an actual magazine’s website and includes different fictional stories on fashion, beauty, and travel. Interestingly, there’s a feature on the website written by Andy Sachs about Emily that reveals that she is now working at Dior.
Lady Gaga and Doechii on the Soundtrack
With all the hype that is behind The Devil Wears Prada 2, they decided to add even more fuel to the train by having Lady Gaga and Doechii collaborate on a single for the movie’s official soundtrack. Titled Runway, the song is a strut-worthy pop song fit for the fashionable halls of the Runway offices.
It’s one thing to have Lady Gaga do an original song for the movie, but the fact that it also includes Doechii makes it even better. As a cherry on top, Bruno Mars is credited as a writer and producer of the track. The movie really is bringing together all the powerhouse pop stars and musicians. If this is what we can expect from the full official soundtrack, it’s going to be a moment.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes to Philippine cinemas on April 29.
