Saving Cherry
Barbie Forteza is a lover scorned in this R-rated irreverent comedy about a woman named Cherry who is left heartbroken at the altar after she catches her fiancé Jude (Khalil Ramos) cheating. Looking to make the most of the situation, Cherry drops her inhibitions for a wild night out with her friends Ingrid (AC Bonifacio), Jewel (Mika Salamanca), Beth (Mikee Quintos), and Martha (Sassa Gurl). The movie will play in cinemas on September 2.
Onslaught
From director Adam Wingard comes a high-octane action thriller following a woman caught in the crosshairs of a trio of genetically engineered super soldiers on a rampage across town. But she has her own set of deadly skills as an Army sniper, and she won’t hesitate to go down fighting to protect her family. Catch this in local cinemas on September 3.
Fall 2: Deadpoint
One would think that after the events of the first movie, people would be more cautious about climbing tall structures. But here we are. In this sequel to the indie horror hit, Jax, the sister of the original’s protagonist Shiloh Hunter, and her friend Luce travel to Thailand to cross the treacherous plank walk on Mount Kwan. But tragedy strikes when a rockslide leaves them trapped 3,000 feet up. With nowhere else to go, the duo must face their fears to survive. Life After You
Starring Bela Padilla and Maricel Soriano, this movie about motherhood, friendship and forgiveness centers on an assistant director putting her dreams of working abroad on hold following her sister’s sudden death. Resident Evil
After scaring the world with Weapons and Barbarian, director Zach Cregger is back with his latest terror, this time set in the Resident Evil universe. This thrilling and terrifying take on the franchise tells the original story of Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos. EDJOP
In this timely autobiography, Elijah Canlas stars as Edgar Jopson, a student leader turned revolutionary in the Martial Law era Philippines. The movie follows his life, struggle for a free Philippines, and how his mission for change is still carried on by the people closest to him to this day. The movie will screen in cinemas on September 16.
Forgotten Island
It’s as if it was just yesterday that we first learned that DreamWorks Animation is making a movie based on Philippine mythology. And now, it’s finally here. While celebrating their last night together, best friends Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Liza Soberano) stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.
Joined by well-meaning-but-hapless weredog Raww (Dave Franco) and a small-but-mighty pack of pals, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal (Lea Salonga), the most feared creature on the island. When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever. Avengers Endgame: Encore
In the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday in December, Marvel is rereleasing Avengers: Endgame in cinemas worldwide this September, including the Philippines. While it’s generally the same movie, Encore does feature a few changes, such as different color grading. Also, it doesn’t hurt to refresh on the last Avengers film before the new one arrives at the end of the year. Encore will come to local cinemas on September 23.
Heart Of The Beast
After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. From director David Ayer comes an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet. The movie will play in cinemas on September 23, but if you want to watch it early, the film will have sneak previews in cinemas on September 19 and 20.
Puregold CinePanalo 2026
In case you didn’t know, grocery store chain Puregold hosts its own film festival called CinePanalo. This year’s edition brings seven full-length movies that touch upon a variety of topics for viewers to choose from. The festival will begin on September 23 and will run until October 4 at Gateway Cineplex 18, Trinoma, Fairview Terraces, Feliz, Ayala Malls Circuit, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, and Market! Market!
Digger
From Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu comes an ambitious new drama starring an unrecognizable Tom Cruise trying to save the planet. The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything. It will play in cinemas on September 30.
Verity
Unfortunately, September is when we bid goodbye to the year of Anne Hathaway with the release of her final movie of 2026. But she ends it with a bang. Adapted from Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, this seductive, psychological thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity.
After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession. Always Yours, Never Mine
Following the box office success of their 2024 reunion film, Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia are back on the big screen in Always Yours, Never Mine, the latest movie by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Sampana. Little is known about the plot so far, but the movie will come to cinemas at the end of the month on September 30.

Honor Thy Mother
A collaboration between GMA Network and ABS- CBN Studios, the 14-episode family drama-suspense series brings together Sharon Cuneta, Barbie Forteza, and more stars for a story about family, legacy, and long-buried secrets. After years of separation, a mother and daughter are finally reunited—only to discover they’ve become fierce rivals. As old wounds resurface and they fight for what is rightfully theirs, they must decide whether to confront the past together or let it tear them apart.
Sharon Cuneta stars as the formidable CEO of a powerful family-run business whose carefully controlled world is shaken by an unexpected crisis. Barbie Forteza plays a determined young woman whose arrival unveils a life-changing truth: she is Sharon’s long-lost daughter. As mother and daughter are thrust back into each other’s lives after years of separation, they must navigate a complicated relationship shaped by secrets, ambition, and the painful consequences of the past. The series will stream first on Prime Video beginning September 11.
A Love Other Than Yours
The K-drama follows Namgung Ho (Seo Kangjun) and Lee Mi-do (Ahn Eun-jin), a couple in a 10-year relationship whose once-burning passion has matured into a quiet trust. Ho is a sociable man who wins people over within minutes and believes marriage is the natural next step in their relationship.

This Reacher spin-off series centers on Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), a private investigator in Chicago and former military protege of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice. Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil. The show will come to Prime Video on September 16.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
Ryan Murphy’s divisive but popular Monster anthology series is back with its fourth season, and for the first time, the focus is on a woman. It tells the story of Lizzie Borden, who was famously put on trial in the 1800s for the murder of her parents in a gory ax murder that shocked the nation. But her actions didn’t come without a spark that pushed her to do it. The series will stream exclusively on Netflix starting September 17.
The Scandal
Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and NANA star in this series set during the Joseon era. A secret proposal ignites hidden desires in a gifted noblewoman, a famed lover, and an unsuspecting lady caught in their dangerous game. See this for yourself on Netflix on September 19.
The Love Hypothesis
The next must-see book adaptation might be here. Based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Ali Hazelwood, The Love Hypothesis follows Olive (Lili Reinhart), a brilliant Ph.D. candidate focused on her future in academia. Balaraw
What happens when you marry sapphic love, supernatural horror, and Filipino folklore? It may look something like Balaraw, a new movie from Rae Red, who has been making a name for herself with her female-led thrillers like Babae at Baril and Roadkillers. Janine Gutierrez and Charlie Dizon play a couple who travel to the mysterious island of Balaraw in search of the former character’s mother, played by Agot Isidro. On their quest, they come across supernatural entities and the mysteries surrounding the island. Considering that we rarely, if ever, get local sapphic horror movies, this film has our attention. It will premiere on Netflix on September 24.
