Following their internet-breaking performance last Saturday during Weekend 1 of Coachella, BINI returned to the desert once more for their Weekend 2 set. As the only homegrown Filipino act to be performing at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival this year, BINI made the most out of their second set. From new looks, a new opening number, and more, the girl group brought P-pop excellence to the Coachella Valley yet again with their return to the Mojave stage.

BLOOMs near and far, and casual attendees flocked to the venue to watch the girl group’s 45-minute high-energy set, featuring a total of nine tracks, with countless more watching via the livestream from all over the world. With even more charisma, confidence, energetic dance breaks, and stage presence, BINI showed a global audience what Filipino talent is all about. They didn’t just entertain the crowd, but also hopefully helped open the doors for more homegrown Filipino acts to be invited to perform at Coachella and other major international music festivals.

Now that BINI’s performance at Coachella is officially over, it’s been a moment in OPM history. With that, check out some of our favorite highlights from the Weekend 2 performance below.

New Weekend, New Costumes

For Weekend 2, BINI came prepared with not one, but two brand new looks for their set. Spearedheaded once again by the group’s stylist and visual director, Ica Villanueva, BINI first went on stage in warrior-like outfits custom-made by Marian Zara and custom shades by Baobab Eyewear and Frances Torres. The group then did a quick change into metallic pink and purple outfits that were also made by Marian Zara, with added custom Y2K flowers by Raf Villas. Even their backup dancers, the BINI Besties, had new outfits for Weekend 2.

The New Opening Number

BINI switched things up a bit for their second set, with one of the most notable being swapping out Shagidi for Strings as the opening number. It made for a powerful introduction that played to the girl group’s strengths. From the vocals, choreography, the dance break that featured an interpretation of luksong baka, and that killer roll call at the end, it kicked off their Weekend 2 set into high gear, an energy that sustained all the way to the end.

The Crowd

BINI already had a hyped crowd during their Weekend 1 set, but the crowd they had during Weekend 2 felt different in the best way. With a venue packed with festivalgoers from end to end, the crowd was louder and more engaged, giving the group an audience they deserved. Some of BINI’s fellow Kapamilya artists like Anne Curtis, Alexa Ilacad, and AC Bonifacio were in attendance, too. We also spotted a lot more people holding the Philippine flag this time as compared to last week, showing how BINI brought out Filipinos far and wide to support their set.

Bringing The Philippines To Mojave, Part 2

Once again, BINI proudly brought Filipino culture to Coachella. From the Philippine flags we spotted in the crowd, the members singing in Tagalog, tapping Filipino creatives for their looks, and Mikha teaching the crowd again how to do the “Eyyy!” expression, it felt like a proud statement of their Filipino heritage. Our favorite moment, though, was when the members introduced themselves in their native provincial dialects, giving the global audience a taste of how diverse the Philippines really is.

The Philippine Flag Displayed at the End

As much as it was an honor for BINI to have performed at Coachella in terms of what it meant for their careers and their place in the industry, Weekend 2 brought home the point that the girl group didn’t do this just for themselves, but for the Philippines. Such was the case when the Philippine flag was shown on the screen at the end of their performance. Their historic Coachella set was their time to put a spotlight on OPM and Filipino talent. You could feel the fire and how proud BINI are to represent the country at Coachella. And the fact that it’s young women who are helping lead the charge for greater appreciation of OPM on the world stage makes it even better.
