Over the past year, Ashtine Olviga has parlayed her status as a rising star into booking multiple acting projects. In 2025 alone, there was her breakout role as Jay-jay Mariano in Ang Mutya Ng Section E, her film with her love team partner Andres Muhlach Minamahal, and her first-ever Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Manila’s Finest. With momentum on her side, it’s safe to say that Ashtine is on top of the world. And for her first big acting project of 2026, it isn’t just further proof of her breakout star status, but also a showcase of Ashtine the actress.

The Many Sides to Ashtine Olviga

Viva recently announced the launch of an anthology series on Viva One, titled Viva One Originals, which will feature their rising stars as they take on a variety of stories and roles. For its first iteration, it’s going big with Ashtine Olviga as she stars in her first anthology series, Viva One Originals: Ashtine.

Spanning four episodes, the series will showcase Ashtine like never before as she takes on diverse genres and characters, while also working alongside notable names in the industry. To headline her own anthology series is already an honor, but it will also serve as a showcase of her skills, growth, and capacity as one of the next young actresses to watch out for, especially since they only had two tapping days for each episode, which required Ashtine to be quick on her toes.

In Who’s the Boss?, Ashtine goes the bodyswap workplace comedy route, where she’s joined by the iconic Rufa Mae Quinto. In the episode, the young actress plays a personal assistant to a fiery CEO of a fashion brand as the two swap bodies and have to pretend to live in each other’s shoes a la Freaky Friday (yes, that means Ashtine pretending to be like Rufa Mae Quinto). The lighthearted story will explore the impact of empathy, understanding, and self-improvement.

Ashtine gets the K-drama treatment in the anthology’s second episode, My Melody. The Gen Z star will play a K-pop fangirl named Melody who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with her longtime idol, singer-songwriter Chanwoo, played by Korean actor Lee Dae-won. In a fun twist, the sweet story will also star Rob Deniel as Melody’s best friend who secretly has feelings for her and features original music by the young hitmaker.

Things take a spooky turn in Balik-eskwela, a horror-themed episode inspired by the popular Book of Bad Ideas TikTok account. The campus-set story will see Ashtine be joined by Marco Gumabao and Sara Joe for a spine-tingling adventure.

Finally, Ashtine digs deep for a dramatic performance in the anthology series’ fourth episode, Bahay-bahayan, which co-stars Claudine Barretto. The drama will see Ashtine play a fiercely independent daughter who has a complicated relationship with her OFW mother, played by Claudine Barretto, who returns home to the Philippines and tries to reconnect with her daughter. Interestingly, the role is a reversal of sorts for the veteran actress, who famously played a rebellious daughter who resented her OFW mother in one of her most notable films, Anak.

Viva One Originals: Ashtine will stream on Viva One starting March 13, with a new episode dropping each week until April 4.

Frequently Asked Questions

Viva One Originals: Ashtine is a four-episode anthology series starring Ashtine Olviga, streaming on Viva One from March 13 to April 4, 2026. Each episode places her in a different genre — body swap comedy, K-drama romance, campus horror, and family drama — alongside co-stars including Rufa Mae Quinto, Lee Dae-won, and Claudine Barretto.

The series features a notable ensemble across its four episodes: Rufa Mae Quinto in the workplace body swap comedy Who’s the Boss?, Korean actor Lee Dae-won and Rob Deniel in the K-drama episode My Melody, Marco Gumabao and Sara Joe in the horror episode Balik-eskwela, and Claudine Barretto in the family drama Bahay-bahayan.

Bahay-bahayan follows Ashtine Olviga as a fiercely independent daughter navigating a complicated relationship with her OFW mother, played by Claudine Barretto, who returns home and attempts to reconnect. The casting mirrors — and reverses — Barretto’s iconic role in the film Anak, where she played a rebellious daughter who resented her own OFW mother.

Viva One Originals: Ashtine streams exclusively on Viva One, with new episodes dropping weekly beginning March 13, 2026, through April 4, 2026.

Before Viva One Originals, Ashtine Olviga had a breakout year in 2025 — playing Jay-jay Mariano in Ang Mutya Ng Section E, starring in the film Minamahal alongside love team partner Andres Muhlach, and making her Metro Manila Film Festival debut in Manila’s Finest.
