The 2000s is calling and we’re picking up immediately. It’s the season of the Y2K bombshell, only this time, she’s feral. For Roberto Cavalli S/S27, Fausto Puglisi revisits the glamour that made the house such a force during the decade and turns up its animal instinct.

We’re already sold.

Roberto Cavalli S/S27 Goes Wild with a Capital W

Puglisi isn’t holding back. The elephant in the room is the wide array of prints mixed together. Flora and fauna collide across the body, and we’ve come to realize that leopard spots meet a garden of flowers. Several patterns even appear to be fighting for space on a garment. As the saying goes, it’s a jungle over here!

Again, the best clothes nowadays come with a lot of texture. Puglisi seems to understand how much more interesting a look becomes when the surface rewards a closer look. One of our favorites trails into wispy strands of chiffon that give the dress its own sense of movement. Imagine seeing that in person.

Oh wait, we should have mentioned that the sea also makes an appearance! House Cavalli uses coral throughout the collection as jewelry, as if each piece were freshly plucked from underwater (note: do not actually pluck them in real life). Against bare skin, they’re gorgeous.

Within the fashion industry, there are plenty of minimalists with their self-appointed neutral uniforms. That includes us. We enjoy simplicity. We really do. But then Roberto Cavalli S/S27 comes along looking this glorious and suddenly, we’re wondering whether our closets could stand to get a little wilder.
