LOEWE appears to have gone fishing. At least, that’s what we can gather from the tangled nets, neon green rope, sailcloth, and water Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have left us with ahead of S/S27. As for the clothes? Not a single one in sight.
Perhaps that’s for the best. Trying to decipher a fashion teaser can become a dangerous game of convincing ourselves that a piece of rope is secretly telling us everything about next season. What LOEWE has given us instead is a mood, and a rather specific one at that. We’re somewhere out at sea, surrounded by the practical equipment needed to stay there. Huh.
What Is LOEWE Fishing For This S/S27?

We could take the imagery literally and start preparing ourselves for nautical stripes, netted dresses, and enough sailor references to fill a marina. That would be just the tip of the iceberg though, wouldn’t it? What catches our attention more is how closely LOEWE wants us to look at these objects. Nothing here is particularly pristine. These are all technically tools. Things made to be used.
Utility could be one direction, especially when McCollough and Hernandez have already shown an interest in questioning how clothes should look and behave. But LOEWE is also a house where craft and art tend to complicate the obvious answer. Whatever they’re fishing for, we doubt it ends at sailor dressing.
For now, they’ve pointed us toward the water. We’ll find out what they caught when LOEWE S/S27 arrives in Paris.
