Indeed, K-Pop’s influence has proved its continuous presence and expansion in the global music market
Some of the popular K-Pop groups of this generation, such as BTS, BLACKPINK, TXT, and SEVENTEEN, all received recognition at the MTV Europe Music Awards. This year, the award-giving body took Korea’s pop music genre to the international scene.

Below, we listed the award titles presented in the MTV EMAs that were received by the following K-Pop groups in different categories:
BTS
This marked the fifth consecutive win of BTS of the Biggest Fans trophy in the MTV EMAs, all thanks to their official fandom: ARMY. The group’s popularity is based on their versatile musicality not only in the world of K-Pop, but also through their presence in the international scene, having collaborated with several western singers including Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, and Coldplay.
BLACKPINK
Lisa, BLACKPINK’s main dancer, lead rapper, and vocalist, won the Best K-Pop award in the MTV EMAs 2022. Lisa has always been making history in her solo performances, and now, she made history once again as she was the first solo artist to have won this award because of her solo album, LALISA.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK brought home the Best Metaverse Performance award for the BLACKPINK X PUBG Mobile 2022 in-game concert, and they were the first female K-Pop group to bring home two trophies at the MTV EMAs. The girls did their acceptance speech on video as they are currently on a world tour.
Tomorrow X Together (TXT)
Among this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards 2022 regional winners was TXT, who was awarded Best Asia Act. The group was nominated alongside Indonesia’s NIKI, Philippines’ Maymay Entrata, Thailand’s SILVY, and Japan’s THE RAMPAGE from Exile Tribe. Tomorrow X Together, or TXT, is a boy group under the management of Big Hit Entertainment, and they are known for their bright and youthful music that perfectly resonates to its members. They recently had their “Act: Love Sick” concert in Manila last month.
SEVENTEEN
This year’s Best New award went to SEVENTEEN, a boy band formed of 13 members divided into three sub-units. The group debuted in 2015 and released their first mini album titled 17 Carat. The group’s sound was recognized as a right blend of rap and hip-hop music that centered around their prominent mix of synth, R&B, and dance music.
