The creative director reshaped Dior Homme with a menswear vision that honored the house’s heritage while staying sharply attuned to the present
Kim Jones is leaving Dior Homme. The designer, who has spent the last seven years reshaping the French house’s menswear into a global powerhouse of luxury and cultural cachet, is stepping down as artistic director of ready-to-wear and accessories. In a statement, Dior officially confirmed his departure, offering gratitude for his contributions to the brand’s international growth and artistic relevance. But while the farewell is polite, the fashion world is already asking: Where is he going next?

Jones’ departure felt like the final act of a grand performance. From the moment he arrived at Dior in 2018, he made it clear he wasn’t here to play it safe. His tenure reworked the house’s DNA into something both reverential and unmistakably now. His tailoring was precise, his silhouettes elegant yet effortless, and his ability to make couture techniques relevant to everyday wardrobes was nothing short of masterful.

But if Jones gave Dior Homme a new suit, he also gave it a cultural pulse. Under his direction, Dior entered the zeitgeist. His collaborations became legendary: the Air Dior Jordan sneakers sent sneakerheads into a frenzy, the Shawn Stussy partnership tapped into the cool of surf and streetwear, and his work with artists like KAWS, Daniel Arsham, and Peter Doig transformed garments into collectibles. He built an empire at the crossroads of luxury and contemporary art.
Delphine Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Christian Dior Couture, acknowledged his impact, saying, “ I am extremely grateful for the remarkable work done by Kim Jones, his studio, and the ateliers. With all his talent and creativity, he has constantly reinterpreted the House’s heritage with genuine freedom of tone and surprising, highly desirable artistic collaborations.”

His final show, just last week, now carries a new weight. The collection—steeped in archival references, couture-level craftsmanship, and a sense of poetic finality—felt like a farewell before we even knew it was one. The blindfolds worn by models, the muted palette, the ethereal elegance—was it a metaphor all along? A designer departing, a house in transition, and an industry constantly in flux?

Reflecting on his time at Dior, Jones expressed his gratitude, saying, “It was a true honor to have been able to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence. I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support.”
As the news settles, all eyes turn to Jonathan Anderson, the designer rumored to be next in line for Dior. If true, it would mark a significant shift in aesthetic, bringing his avant-garde, gender-fluid vision into the fold. Meanwhile, Jones’ next move remains a mystery. Will he take the helm of another major house? Launch something of his own? or step into an entirely different realm of design? This is the beginning of whatever Kim Jones does next.
