A man stands behind a massive sheet of crumpled white paper with Bottega Veneta printed across it in red, and then…oh wait, no. That’s about as much as the house is willing to give away before S/S27. No clothes have surfaced, and the Milan venue remains undisclosed. Louise Trotter next lineup has been left to the imagination, which only makes her upcoming outing all the more enticing.
What Could Louise Trotter Possibly Do for Bottega Veneta S/S27?
S/S27 comes at an interesting point in her tenure because she isn’t introducing herself anymore. Two runway collections have given us a sense of what fascinates her, so her third could show us how far she wants to take those ideas.

For one, we’re hoping she plays with texture again. Material experimentation has become one of the pleasures of Trotter’s work, especially when things aren’t quite what they appear to be. F/W26 toyed with perception as silk resembled curly shearling while actual shearling took on the appearance of fur. With warmer months in mind, we’re curious to see how that tactile instinct translates into lighter territory.
Spring/summer could make her silhouettes tighter, too. So far, strong shoulders and roomy coats have defined much of her work at Bottega Veneta. What if she exposed more skin? What if the hemlines got shorter? Who knows, right?
For now, there’s only an enormous piece of paper between us and S/S27. The rest will reveal itself when the lights go up in Milan.
