To say that the drag queen extraordinaire has made us, the Filipinos and the community all over the world proud would truly be an understatement. Manila Luzon powers through with her heart—and pride—in her often bedazzled sleeves. With the art form she has masterfully crafted, Manila pushes the boundaries, represents the LGBTQIA+ community, and fights to make a difference.
With those said, our June 2019 cover girl is, in all aspects, a certified all-star. Whether you agree with the opinion that Manila has always been robbed of her rightful crown, for us, Manila will and always be deserving of the gold treatment—and go for the gold we did.
Golden Girl
Manila is ever the shining beacon of pride and freedom—pride to be whoever or whatever you want to be and freedom to love whomever you want to love. A shimmering symbol of hope, Manila is the much-needed golden ray of sunlight amidst the bleak landscape we currently have.
In true MEGA style, we wanted to showcase this quality on the cover—with the best of Philippine fashion. As a proud Filipino, Manila always highlighted her Philippine heritage in her craft. It’s only fitting that she proudly wore all Filipino designer pieces for our June 2019 issue.
We tapped the best designers who were more than ready to dress the pride of Philippines, in metallic gold, no less.
