From the beginning, both veteran actress Dolly de Leon and designer Sassa Jimenez aimed to exude power. Foregoing convention, the two skipped the idea of the gown entirely and fully leaned into tailoring. Bold, black, and sharp—the Pinoy Pride Awardee channeled the energy of the Black Swan. And Jimenez knew exactly how to make de Leon stand out.

Movement and Structure
“Dolly was incredibly open and collaborative throughout the process, which made the creative exchange easy and purposeful,” Jimenez started. De Leon suggested a tailored silhouette: Sharp flared trousers, a black tuxedo jacket, a holster-style silk brocade vest, and a sheer ruffled silk chiffon shirt—adding both movement and drama. “It’s not something I typically take on, but Dolly encouraged me to explore this direction with her,” she revealed.
The designer’s favorite elements? The holster vest, which featured a subtle floral pattern that’s only visible when open, as well as the delicate beaded details tucked into the jacket’s pockets. “They’re small touches that feel both intimate and intentional,” Jimenez offered.
The tailored suit spotlighted its structure, yet effortlessly moved with her, much like the natural grace of a dancer. “The design approach was about balancing movement and restraint—something Dolly carries so naturally,” the designer shared.
An Open Stage
In many ways, de Leon challenged the designer. Jimenez managed to marry structure and movement, freedom and restraint, fashion and dance. “Dolly is a dream to dress,” Jimenez shared excitedly. “She respects the craft and is constantly excited to explore new ideas.”
