It turns out a breeze can carry a surprising amount of baggage.
Uzair Shoid returns to Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2026 with BAYU, his fourth runway collection and the third chapter in his exploration of the four natural elements. Named after the Malay word for “breeze,” his latest lineup looks to air as a symbol of freedom while acknowledging the weight people continue to carry as they pursue it.

Fashion—and all forms of art, by extension—often turns to nature for inspiration. Shoid is no exception in this regard, casting his gaze to how the elements behave and how they serve as consistent witnesses to human lives. The cascading wooden beads offer the most interesting expression of this concept. Their physical weight creates movement across the body, allowing something solid to participate in the language of air. In a way, it’s Shoid’s manner of showing that lightness can also be found in how one carries the weight of things.

BAYU imagines the sky through the longing of a child who has never fully experienced freedom. As the possibility of flight draws closer, Shoid’s collection considers whether the life waiting above belongs to that child or to the people who decided what success should resemble.
There are no guaranteed destinations up there, and nature certainly offers no promises that things will turn out as planned. Yet BAYU finds something beautiful in that exact uncertainty: the moment a child stops asking for permission, steps into the breeze, and decides to fly anyway.
