Hindy Weber teams up with Bali-based brand Thaikila for a sustainable swimwear collection that blends Filipina elegance with effortless, ethical design

There’s no such thing as swimsuit season in the Philippines—only an endless summer. With tropical escapes always within reach, a versatile swimsuit is a wardrobe essential—whether you’re lounging by the shore, sipping cocktails at a beach club, or layering a chic bandeau top under a breezy linen set for a laid-back, tropical feel. Filipina fashion designer Hindy Weber joins forces with Thaikila, the Bali-based swimwear brand known for its innovative, eco-conscious designs, for a collection that seamlessly blends sustainability with sensuality. Celebrated for her radically conscious approach to fashion, Weber brings her signature aesthetic to this collection, which features batik-inspired prints, macramé details, and innovative fabric technology designed to perform in all waters while feeling as soft as second skin, and for those who want to move effortlessly from sea to shore—always in style, and always with the planet in mind.

Crafting Swimwear with Purpose and Conscious Luxury

For Weber, this collaboration marks her third swimwear collection—one that continues her pursuit of handcrafted details and performance-driven pieces, but now with the added synergy of a globally recognized brand. “Meeting with Thaikila was the perfect marriage,” she shares with MEGA. “Their aesthetic suits our apparel and jewelry collection, while we share the same principles in design and ethical production.”

Beyond aesthetics, this partnership is a meeting of minds—both brands prioritize thoughtful craftsmanship, innovative techniques, and a dedication to reducing environmental impact. Thaikila’s expertise in cutting-edge fabric innovations, from non-toxic dyes to plant-based materials, perfectly aligns with Hindy Weber Every.Day’s philosophy of conscious fashion. “I always aim for handcrafted details and performance swimwear, but with a very strong eco-protective policy,” Weber explains. “With Thaikila, there’s no need to over-explain why we did this, because we share similar aesthetic principles and production values.”

Together, they’ve created a collection with details and materials such as batik-style prints, macramé accents, and vegan suede that make each piece a reflection of nature’s beauty. “Hindy Weber Every.Day collections always embrace sensuality with a raw and earthy approach. We use non-toxic dyes that reflect the beauty and vibrancy of nature,” Weber reveals, highlighting how sustainability and style are seamlessly woven into every element. The result is capsule pieces that make you feel like a vacation is only an outfit change away—whether you’re basking in the sun or layering your swimsuit under breezy separates for a laid-back yet polished look.

Effortless Wear From Sea to City

For the designer, fashion has always been more than just clothing—it’s a philosophy, a way of life deeply rooted in sustainability, functionality, and timeless style. Her creative ethos is to ensure that her “love for high-quality fashion remains a creative—not destructive—endeavor.” Having spent over 20 years in the industry before taking an eight-year hiatus to focus on biodynamic farming, she returned to fashion with a clear mission: to create beautiful, wearable pieces that honor both craftsmanship and ecological responsibility. “I could only go back into fashion if I could marry my craft with ecologically sound practices,” she shares. “The stars aligned, and I was able to find materials and methods that met my standards.”

This conscious approach extends to her swimwear, where versatility and sustainability are at the core of each design. “A keystone guide for our designs is for each piece to be versatile enough to be worn at work, at home, for travel, or for a weekend getaway. It’s the same with our swimwear—you can wear them multiple ways, mix and match, and even combine them with our apparel. Our maillots are often styled as tops paired with our trousers or dress jackets,” she explains. In the collection, it is clear that each piece is designed to move effortlessly through different settings, proving that sustainability doesn’t mean sacrificing style.

One standout piece, the batik-style tube maillot, exemplifies this philosophy perfectly. A signature Thaikila design that Weber and her team embraced and expanded upon, this piece transforms seamlessly, offering up to nine different styling options—from a tube top to a one-shoulder style, a high-waist bottom, or even a skirt. “We love it! It’s also reversible, making it even more versatile,” Weber shares excitedly. With such adaptability, this piece encourages wearers to express their individuality while embracing mindful fashion choices.

Celebrating Women—Locally and Globally

For Weber, designing for a global audience has always been second nature. With a clientele that extends beyond the Philippines, she sees herself not just as a Filipino designer, but simply “a designer”—one who understands that Filipino fashion can be contemporary, effortless, and refined. “I try to bring contemporary designs for everyday wear to our market here because I know we have more than just the Filipiniana. We can be simple and chic and still proudly Filipino without being tribal or ethnic,” she explains. This collaboration with Thaikila reflects this very philosophy—a seamless fusion of modern elegance and cultural depth.

More than just a milestone, this partnership is a natural extension of Weber’s journey—one that has always prioritized sustainability, mindful design, and a holistic approach to fashion. “It is just a continuation and growth of our design values and principles,” she shares. “We look forward to more collections and collaborations with like-minded designers and brands.” With each collection, Weber remains steadfast in her commitment to create pieces that honor both the planet and the people who wear them, proving that style and sustainability can coexist beautifully.

At its heart, this collection is about empowering women to feel effortlessly beautiful—whether on a beach getaway or in everyday life. “My ultimate objective as a designer is to make women feel absolutely beautiful in their own skin with the help of my clothes so that they feel comfortable and confident in themselves,” Weber says. “No loud branding, no fanfare, nothing to prove—because they’re already worthy.” This belief is woven into every piece, ensuring that each design is not just an outfit, but a celebration of confidence, comfort, and understated elegance.
