Our Favorite Pat McGrath Makeup Looks for Louis Vuitton—And What Else to Expect in August

With Pat McGrath as the creative director of Louis Vuitton’s first makeup line, what does its beauty future hold? Her past work offers some clues.

Somewhere in the world, a woman is still thinking about that one McGrath look she saw on the runway. Maybe it was last year’s porcelain skin, the Swarovski-studded lip, or the feather eyebrows of 2014. Whatever it was, Pat McGrath’s work is precise, striking, and ahead of its time that it all but engraves itself into fashion’s visual language and pop culture as a whole.

Now, she’s bringing that instinct to Louis Vuitton as the newly minted Creative Director of Cosmetics for La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the House’s first full-scale beauty line launching in August 2025. As we look back on our favorite beauty looks she’s designed for Louis Vuitton, the question here isn’t whether this next venture will be big; it’s what era it will usher in for both the Maison and the beauty visionary herself.

Crowned a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II and hailed as the “most influential makeup artist in the world,” McGrath has spent over two decades shaping the faces of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic runway moments. Her work, as you see, has been nothing short of couture for the skin.

With years of travel history under its belt, Louis Vuitton never treated beauty as an afterthought. In fact, long before La Beauté Louis Vuitton was announced, the House had crafted vanity trunks with silk, powder compacts, as well as travel cases designed to cradle glass perfume bottles. Beauty, in the Louis Vuitton universe, was never just the product offerings but the ritual, the craftsmanship, and the art of ensuring its clientele traveled as beautifully as they dressed. But now, it’s making things official with McGrath.

“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton,” says McGrath.

“The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”

Epic Beauty

We’ve learned not to expect less. She built her eponymous brand PAT MCGRATH LABS in 2015 with her debut product selling out in record time. Then came everything she’s known for: velvet mattes, gold foils, high-shine shimmers—until more of the industry took notice. Prada, Valentino, Armani Beauty, Supreme, Chrome Hearts, and other global brands that understood her power wanted in. Now, with decades of mastery and an unmatched eye for detail, she’s bringing that same alchemy to Louis Vuitton, ready to redefine beauty at the House’s highest level.

What can we expect? Reports list 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms, and eight eyeshadow palettes. In our corner, however, numbers are just footnotes. It’s the obsession with texture, the relentless pursuit of quality color pay-off, and the signature McGrath pigment—potent and uncompromising—that we’re expecting from the maestro herself.
