Each time the sun finally yields to darkness, the rules of reality—and beauty—shift to decadence. At The New Nocturnals, Manila’s most magnetic personalities breathtakingly answered Halloween’s call for creatures of the night. Gone was palatable sophistication as the macabre and the extreme reigned supreme. From hair to makeup and every ghoulish detail in between, here’s a roundup of the evening’s best.
Barbie Imperial

Rising from the murky depths was Barbie Imperial’s stunning take on a dark siren. Dangerous indeed but up top, she was hypnotic. At every turn, she glimmered; deep emerald green shadows were dusted on her eyelids, while pearls and scales gave her an otherworldly texture as a predator from the deep. The bold, metallic color on her lips further added to her venomous edge.
Kyline Alcantara

Harvey Dent’s infamous split identity made its appearance in the form of Kyline Alcantara as Two-Face. So of course, dual-sided makeup was necessary. The “good” side was polished with a flawless base, a defined brow, and a soft eye that matched her blonde hair. But the “bad” side featured prosthetics (which probably took hours to do) meant to mimic charred skin.
Andrea Brillantes

One can always expect Blythe to go above and beyond during Halloween, and her purr-fect look as a nocturnal feline—whiskers and all—did not disappoint. Instead of simply adding cat ears, she fully embraced the commitment of being completely painted black, giving her skin an almost satiny finish. The diamond accessory on her forehead paired well with the silver glitters she had on her eyes.

Michelle Dee

The avant-garde visage of Michelle Dee was absolutely far from clowning around. Drawing inspiration from a darkly stylized Harlequin, her skin was matte and pale. Beneath her eyes, classic tear tracks in black and red were drawn downward, while an overdrawn smile became the focal point of her mouth.
Kylie Verzosa

The adage “eat your heart out” is only appropriate for Kylie Verzosa’s sinister enchantress, whose makeup blended glamor and gore. Her signature brown-toned eyeshadow and glossy pout were present, but the crimson dripping down her face and neck suggested that she arrived at the event fresh from a kill. How chic.
Christi McGarry

Imagine being half-dead; that was Christi McGarry. Unlike a flat, typical skull, hers made use of linework that almost resembled calligraphy to delineate the eye sockets. One side of her mouth also featured white highlighting around the sketched teeth to give the illusion of bones. The lusciousness of her waves and strong brows were the only things still clinging to the mortal coil.
Zeinab Harake-Parks

As the alluring love witch of the night, Zeinab Harake-Parks was equally romantic and devious. She was the image of sultriness with her gleaming skin, and her smoky eyes looked perfectly enticing. Yet the most eye-catching detail of all was her long hair, which was intricately braided in varying thickness.
With these breathtaking beauties, Manila’s most beloved celebrities proved that on Halloween, the only thing more intoxicating than the night itself is the sheer, unbridled nerve of dressing like it’s the end of the world.
