Do You Need to Follow Every Trend? Ask Yourself These Questions First

By

One 2025 resolution you should consider is to take trends with a grain of salt. Will this benefit you in the long run, or will it be a phase that won’t last?

One of the biggest pressures of living in the digital age is how quickly trends and fads come and go. One minute, it’s in, and the next, it’s out. At this point, we should be asking ourselves, “Do we have to ride on every trend?” The answer you’re looking for is no. While trends identify what’s in or out, they also help us find what works for us and what we can resonate with in the long run.

Does It Suit You?

If there’s one thing we can thank TikTok for, it’s for teaching us how to dress up and do our makeup according to our features. From styling our clothes to highlighting our best features via makeup, TikTok has given us hacks and trends that bring forth our best selves.

Whether it’s a makeup style like clean girl makeup, a new product, a clothing piece, or a specific fashion style, make sure it suits you—your features and your style. What’s the point of going along the trend if it doesn’t even look good on you, or you don’t really resonate with it?

Is It Good For You?

No, you don’t need to buy into every trend to understand them, especially the anik-anik trend. If you’re not fond of collecting figurines or plush figures to attach to your bag or display in your room, then you don’t need to spend on those collectibles, especially if they don’t particularly spark joy.

Viral products go viral for a reason, but it’s definitely not for everyone

It’s goes with beauty and wellness products, as well. Just because a certain skincare product is blowing up all over the internet doesn’t mean it would work for you. Most things on Earth aren’t a one-size-fits-all kind of deal, so take everything with a grain of salt. With beauty and wellness products especially, be a responsible consumer and take the time to research so as not to waste money.

Is It Sustainable?

Is it an actual trend or is it just a fad? Time plays an essential role when it comes to trends, whether they’ll stick around for a good number of years or die down in just a few months, which will prove if it’s really just a fad. This is a bit tricky because one deciding factor to consider is personal taste.

When it comes to fashion, it is you who will decide whether a piece is timeless or not, depending also on how you style it and carry yourself with confidence and attitude. It’s the same with beauty products: you don’t have to buy every new release, especially if you don’t see yourself using finishing that newly launched lipstick shade.

At the end of the day, trends help us curate our personal style, and whether or not they’re in or out, what matters is how you feel about yourself. Fashion, beauty, wellness, or even the latest viral material object to collect—it all depends on how you apply these trends in your daily life. So, with every trend that will rise in 2025, ask yourself these questions. From there, curate your personal style and build that confidence. That’s the trendiest and the most timeless you could be.
