Elevating Menswear
For the event, Gutierrez chose a jacket with distinctive button details along with an extravagant floral accent and straps cascading down the front from Yohji Yamamoto, paired with pleated shorts from Comme des Garçons, and completed the outfit with black-and-white Thom Browne shoes. This combination represented a forward-thinking menswear approach that upholds creativity and refinement.
“I really wanted to play with the proportion and silhouette of my look,” Gutierrez said. “Combining the pleated shorts from Comme, which were a bit more boxy, with a more fitted and textured jacket from Yohji, I paired it with a playful shoe from Thom Browne to add a bit of contrast.”
Gutierrez’s selection of pieces points out the growing tendency in menswear to take on atypical forms and combine components that question conventional rules. His outfit reflected the Philippines’ shifting style account, which values originality as well as individual freedom.

Beyond his sartorial achievements, Gutierrez expressed a deep connection to the MEGA Fashion Awards. “The MEGA Fashion Awards is really special to me because they highlight the best of the best in fashion and beauty here in the Philippines,” he shared. “It’s a chance to celebrate the people who are making waves in the industry, and that’s why I wanted to support and host the event. It’s about recognizing all the hard work that goes into this space.”
Gutierrez also took pride in seeing his peers honored at the event. “Seeing my friends being recognized was amazing. It was such a proud moment for me because I know how hard they’ve worked to get there. It also felt like a reunion, catching up with people I hadn’t seen in years. The whole night brought the industry together, which was really nice.”
