The 23-year-old beauty queen, after years of training, has been crowned as this year’s Reina Hispanoamericana. Dia Maté’s win is the fruit of all her training, and her crowning is a moment of pride for all Filipinos. Aside from her well-deserved win, she has also proven that she is the Gen Z beauty queen that should be kept on our radar.

The Unapologetic Pop Girl
All while training to be a beauty queen, Dia Maté also balanced rehearsals as a singer. She just recently shifted her sound to a more upbeat one, debuting her new image with “Ganda Gandahan,” a girl’s anthem of being unapologetically beautiful.

The perfect song to get ready for the girls before an awesome night, the beauty queen’s song is not only to a song for self-love, but to also empower those around her. It is a reminder to invest in ourselves, in our beauty, and to never let others bring us down.
Music Therapy
The singer’s love for music goes beyond the stage. Dia Maté is a firm believer of musical therapy, seeing how music can not only be a tool for empowerment but for healing as well.

Just last Christmas, the beauty queen was generous enough to not only give the kids of Cribs Foundation vocal lessons, but even musical instruments. To Dia, music is a way to connect and heal, and so she has took it upon herself to spend time with kids to teach them the power of music.
An Ever-Supportive Girlfriend
In a previous MEGA interview, Dia mentioned how, despite being Juan Karlos’ girlfriend, their success was never reliant of one another. They couple see themselves as equals, never “the rockstar’s partner.”

Being a couple in the music industry, they have gone through the same struggles as musicians, which makes their support for each other even more important. Whether it’s Juan Karlos’ concerts or Dia Maté’s journey as a beauty queen, the two were always there for each other, not only to support but to empower one another as musicians and as a couple.
