Makeup is a powerful tool in shaping up one’s identity. However, with the amount of products available in the market, young and impressionable beauty enthusiasts tend to have trouble filtering out the good from the bad. So where do they begin? At the MEGA BeautyCon 2024, clean makeup brand barenbliss broke down a simple beauty principle: perfecting your makeup starts with healthy skin. Here’s how.
Defining Clean Beauty
“Teenagers or young people in general, they usually use makeup to cover up their blemishes and acne,” barenbliss brand manager Zot Brillo stated during the brand’s segment during the program.
Beauty content creator Joselle Alandy joined him on stage, sharing that despite makeup’s ability to enhance your uniqueness, looking and feeling good about your skin is still the secret to unlocking confidence. Afterall, your makeup base is only as good as your skin.
This is where clean beauty comes into the equation. While its definition is constantly changing, barenbliss believes that being clean means adopting a vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic formula for all their products. Whereas most makeup in the market are heavy and tend to be comedogenic, barenbliss remains gentle on sensitive skin–leading to less breakouts.

Guests had a blast playing a spin the wheel game at barenbliss’ BeautyCon booth, where they got the chance to win some of barenbliss’ best products–from skincare to makeup. This includes the Mari Mori Micellar Water, which has Marigold-Moringa to gently remove impurities from the skin. There’s also the Lily Makes Luminous Glow Tint, an alcohol-free lip tint that repairs the skin.
Those who were unable to secure a prize still had fun testing the rest of barenbliss’ hero products like the 6-in-1 Foundation Stick–a lightweight non-comedogenic base–and the Moist Mochi Paste Powder Blush, which has a buttery soft consistency and melts into the skin. Attendees were pleasantly surprised at how easy the products were to use.
