ICYMI, the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal winner, Hidilyn Diaz, is now engaged! On October 17, she nabbed the diamond along with the gold from her longtime boyfriend and coach, Julius Naranjo.
“It’s a YES,” the Olympic champion shared along with a photo of her 2020 Tokyo gold medal. “I’m grateful to God that He sent Julius into my life, he make my life easy.”

Along with the awe-inspiring photo taken in Sheraton Hotel’s Vubble Pods, there were also a few familiar faces that piqued the interest of fans, particularly Iza Calzado, former beauty queen, Lara Quigaman, and even Joross Gamboa.
So, what were their roles?
Turns out, Hidilyn is a major fan of the actress, and she was invited to go on a triple date with Iza and her husband Ben Wintle, and Lara and her husband, Marco Alcaraz.
“May birthday daw kaya nasa Vubble Dinner kami,” Hidilyn shared. “Kaya triple date kame ni [Iza] at [Lara] saka may despidida party daw before kami aalis ng Malasyia kaya naman nagvlog pa ko, nagpapicture, at nagpacute pa ko.”

Indeed, Iza and Lara Quigaman went from being the athlete’s idols to her proposal “kasabwat.”
