The first few months after debut are an exciting time for any P-pop group, but for XONARA, it’s practically electric. The girl group became the talk of the town following their surprise performance at SB19’s Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy finale concert last April, and they followed up the hype with the release of their debut single TABI a month later.

Even though it’s still very early days for the 7-member group, Eurekah, Ella, Dominique, Tin, Megumi, Lei, and Namie are already seen by many in P-pop as rising stars. It might seem like a lot for most to handle, but for XONARA, the attention has fueled their passion to be even better artists.

XONARA Reflects on Their Debut

Just a few months ago, no one outside 1Z Entertainment knew who XONARA was. Now, people can’t stop talking about them as P-pop’s next it girl group. TABI’s music video has 1.1 million views on YouTube and counting, while the track has been streamed over 2.2 million times on Spotify, and impressively, these numbers are just after a month. “Actually po, we’ve been doing really well since our debut last May. We’re still growing, learning with each performance,” Lei tells MEGA Asia about how the group has been holding up lately.

She admits that the attention can get overwhelming at times, but it’s the kind of attention that makes them appreciate their early success even more. “Grabe yung support ng mga fans. And not just from the fans but yung families namin, yung mga tumutulong sa amin na makarating po dito, kaya sobrang grateful po talaga kami.”

Adding to XONARA’s hype is that not only are they one of the newest girl groups on the scene, but also the first-ever girl group from 1Z Entertainment, the company SB19 formed to manage themselves and their own roster of artists a few years back. “It’s such a blessing po and a gift po to be part of 1Z Entertainment,” expresses Tin. Given SB19’s reputation in the industry, being an artist from 1Z Entertainment comes with a certain level of expectation for quality and artistic excellence, one that is further highlighted by XONARA’s historic distinction of being the company’s first girl group.

Those expectations, though, aren’t seen as weights by the members. Instead, the group is more than ready to meet the moment. “Along with that blessing po, may halong responsibility po and pressure, pero thankful talaga kami sa lahat ng training namin. Priniprepare po kami to hold on and take on that responsibility.”

Already on the map as artists to watch for, the young ladies are savoring the moment while also preparing for their next activities, including upcoming performances and working on their “bedroom songs” in their house. Regardless of what happens next, the group is even more inspired to make the most of their rookie year.

As Megumi puts it, “It’s been only a month since our debut, but with the amount of support we received, it makes us so warm, and it helps us really push more for our art and every training, every practice, and every writing [session] that we do.”
