Even though we’re only halfway through 2026, Anne Curtis is poised to end the year with several wins under her belt. Her movie comeback, The Loved One, is a certified box office hit with 300 million pesos at the global box office.

She also secured a nomination in the Individual Awards category at the 2026 Seoul International Drama Awards for It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, her teleserye comeback last year. And of course, there’s her hosting on It’s Showtime. But Curtis is far from done this year and, in fact, she’s ramping up for even more. Nearly three decades in the industry, and Anne Curtis is still proving why she is that A-list star.

How Anne Curtis Approaches Her Craft Today

2027 will mark Curtis’s 30th year in the industry. And at this stage of her career, she approaches her work more relaxed and focused. She isn’t here to compete with her peers, but to further grow as an actress and artist. In particular, she’s channeling more of her time to films, ones that speak to her creatively and are worth her time. “Well, at least now I think I’m at a point where I get to choose the projects that I would like to engage with because when I engage with this project, it means time away from my family,” she tells MEGA Asia.

For Curtis, a pitch alone won’t do. She needs to read the script to help her visualize what she may be getting into. “Dapat worth it talaga siya.” The Loved One marked the actress’s return to movies after years, and the project was one that reinvigorated her artistic spirit in a sense. “It was so nice to come back. I think parang meron talagang hinahanap ng katawan ko na umarte ulit,” she says.

With everything Curtis has achieved, she could rest on her laurels. Yet, even at this point in her life, she knows that the work is never done, as preparation will always be part of the process. “I feel as an actress, it’s also a never-ending process. You’re a never-ending work in progress,” the actress expresses, adding how she took classes again for her acting comeback.

Never one to box herself into a certain role or stay in her comfort zone, Curtis opens herself up to all kinds of characters that come her way and resonate with her. “It just goes to show that even the roles I choose now, hindi siya necessarily love story, it’s really all different genres.”

Anne Curtis’s Upcoming Movies

Speaking of different genres, Curtis’ upcoming movies reflect that mindset. First, she’s reuniting with Ruel S. Bayani for the first time since No Other Woman, one of Curtis’s most iconic films of her career. While she didn’t share much in terms of plot, Curtis did say that she loved Direk Ruel’s concept and who they chose to write the script, adding that the story has the essence one would expect from a Ruel S. Bayani movie that’s not so camp but also not so straightforward.

Second, Curtis will work with Mikhael Red for the first time on a psychological thriller, a project she’s particularly excited to do as she hasn’t done a movie in the genre since Huwag Kang Lilingon. Finally, Curtis will team up once more with director Irene Villamor for a new movie. The talks are still in the early stages, but given The Loved One‘s critical, commercial, and cultural success, it’s a film to look forward to. And all this is happening as Curtis is becoming more hands-on with her movies as an executive producer, with The Loved One being the first movie she served in that capacity.

While these movies are all either in conceptualization or production stages, Curtis does have a new show on the horizon with BuyBust: The Undesirables. The sequel to the 2018 movie BuyBust sees Curtis return to the action genre and reprise her role as Nina Manigan for a project that’s been a long time coming. According to the actress, they spent three years on and off working on the show, but they are almost done filming. The nine-episode series, which features a different story and setting from the original, is set to release on Netflix later this year.

The Loved One earned 300 million pesos at the global box office and marked Curtis’s return to film after years away. She also served as executive producer — her first time in that capacity — and has described the project as one that reinvigorated her artistic drive and confirmed her return to prioritizing films.

Three films are in the pipeline: a reunion with director Ruel S. Bayani for the first time since No Other Woman; a psychological thriller with Mikhael Red, her first in the genre since Huwag Kang Lilingon; and an early-stage project with Irene Villamor, following the success of The Loved One.

BuyBust: The Undesirables is a nine-episode Netflix series and the sequel to the 2018 film BuyBust. Curtis reprises her role as Nina Manigan in a new story and setting from the original. The series, which took three years of on-and-off production, is set to release on Netflix later in 2026.

She reads every script before committing — a pitch alone is not sufficient. With a family to consider, she reserves her time for projects that are creatively worthwhile and personally resonant. Her current slate reflects that standard: she is actively moving away from comfort zones and into varied genres rather than repeating familiar territory.

She secured a nomination in the Individual Awards category at the 2026 Seoul International Drama Awards for It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, her teleserye comeback. The nomination positions her among a regional field of recognized television performers and marks her first significant international award citation in the drama category.
