There’s nothing quite like the bond between a mother and daughter. As complex as it is foundational, there are things that mothers and daughters go through that only they can understand fully. From birth to adulthood, that relationship will always be there. Such is the case with Carmina Villarroel-Legaspi and Cassy Legaspi. MEGA’s May 2026 print cover stars have a bond that, despite how public their lives have been, remains as strong as ever.

Even with the glare of the spotlight, Carmina and Cassy understand each other in a way only they know how. And it is through their dynamic that not only has Camina taught Cassy many things, but so too has the daughter taught the mother in a showcase of how mothers and daughters best thrive on a two-way street.

Mother-Daughter Lessons With Carmina Villarroel-Legaspi and Cassy Legaspi

Carmina and Cassy don’t need to do much to feel the love. By just being together, the mother and daughter duo already enjoy each other’s company. And over the years, their relationship has not only strengthened but also served as an avenue to learn and grow from each other. “Being extra responsible and extra organized,” Cassy tells MEGA, about what she’s learned from her mother.

From hangouts to sleepovers and even trips abroad, those adventures allowed Cassy to emulate a side of her mom that she herself was surprised by. Still, it’s a trait Cassy would happily exercise. “I like my upbringing, I like how I was raised, I like how organized I am, or how I take care of my friends. I think I got that from my mom. Siyempre, when I’m with her, I tend to observe and admire, but when I’m not with her, parang I take that with me as a lesson from her.”

For Carmina, it’s been learning from her daughter the ins and outs of Gen Z, from makeup to skincare and social media apps. While some may see the generation gap between mothers and daughters as a challenge, Carmina uses it as a way to keep updated, with Cassy more than willing to teach her mom.

More importantly, Carmina appreciates how Cassy has taught her how to set boundaries, especially when it comes to understanding that you will not be able to please everyone you meet. “Kasi, I’m a people pleaser, so it’s so hard for me to say no. So she would always remind me to speak up,” Carmina shares. She adds, “It’s how you say things. It can be a no or medyo negative, but it’s the tone and how you say things para at least there’s no argument or misunderstanding.”

As Cassy continues growing into a young adult, Carmina looks on at her daughter as a proud mom, seeing her becoming a lot more responsible and independent, and embodying the lessons she’s taught her. “Whatever I taught her, it’s at the back of her mind subconsciously,” she shares, adding that whatever worries she may have about her daughter not paying attention to her have not materialized. That love also extends to Cassy’s career, with Carmina highlighting how her daughter’s achievements are due to her own work. “Alam ko naman na she really loves what she’s doing, because she’s very dedicated and she’s very passionate.”

The admiration is mutual, with Cassy praising her mom for not sacrificing who she is after all these years. “I’m proud of how my mom stayed true to herself despite everything that’s happened in her life, how she stayed very caring, selfless, and how she puts other people first,” the Gen Z actress gushes. “It’s very inspiring to see my mom stay the same way despite all the hardships she’s been going through. But she still remained the same selfless, positive person.”
