Call her a Broadway legend, Disney royalty, and the first Asian actress to get a Tony. It’s about time Lea Salonga gets a star. The Tony winner, who first captivated the world as Kim in Miss Saigon and later became the singing voice of not one but two Disney princesses (Aladdin’s Jasmine and Mulan herself), is finally getting her spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Among the 35 honorees for 2025—including Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Gordon Ramsay, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Molly Ringwald, and Stanley Tucci—Salonga is the only Filipino recipient, and one of very few Asian performers to ever make it onto the storied boulevard.

A recognition of talent that has no expiration date, and impact doesn’t come with a timestamp, Lea Salonga has long been celebrated in theater circles, musical households, and the hearts of fans who grew up hearing her voice in animated classics. She’s headlined in the West End and on Broadway, mentored young artists with admirability, and used her platform to champion representation in the arts without pandering to applause.
Offstage, she championed young Filipino talent, pushed for visibility without compromise, and stood firmly for her values—always direct, always deliberate.

The pavement that turns legacy into landmark will soon bear her name. Yet more than etched in terrazzo, it points out how Filipino excellence doesn’t go unseen. Even when the applause quiets, when the curtain falls, the work endures. Sometimes, it even lands you on Hollywood Boulevard.
