This is an excerpt from July 2025 Main Beauty

In a world riddled with the pursuits of perfection, it would be wise to draw knowledge from an ancient philosophy that whispers a softer truth, “Beauty is also present in imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness.” This is where true appreciation of beauty begins: in honoring what is quiet, the weathered, and the ever-evolving. Inspired by the Japanese art of wabi-sabi, this month’s beauty editorial reflects on these nuances of beauty through the grace and groundedness of Lexi Gonzales

Embracing this way of being isn’t just about recognizing beauty in life’s transience, it’s also about finding peace in our own becoming. It’s the wholehearted acceptance that we are ever-changing, and within that change, there is always space for growth.

This aligns with Lexi’s quiet strength and discipline as an actor. “The industry is incredibly fast-paced and
as an actor, it’s important to understand that nothing is ever perfect and change is constant,” she tells MEGA “It starts with understanding that reality. It’s hard, but as long as we are trying, as long as we are showing up to create something beautiful, yun yung importante. Our journey doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should be intentional.”

Grounded and Guided

“There will be moments talaga where you ask yourself: Do I adapt? Or do I change?” Lexi confesses, reflecting on her growth after seven years in the industry. “But it’s in those instances that I’ve learned how important it is to be surrounded by the right people, the ones who anchor you, who remind you to stay grateful, who pull you back when you start to fall into the pressure, and who help you remember that you don’t need to make drastic changes—just care for yourself, adapt, and keep improving.”

Same Differences

Growth is not linear, and comparison only distorts the beauty of one’s journey. Wabi-sabi teaches us that we each bloom on our own terms. There is no rush, only the unfolding of who we are meant to become — one thing that speaks deeply to Lexi’s personal advocacy.

LEXI shares her take on how women are always the target of criticism in the industry, "I just hope more people recognize that we all have our own unique paths and pace of growth, and that there’s no need to pit women against one another.”

“Women are constantly being placed in this war against one another,” she says. “What people often forget is that women are the most empathetic, the most compassionate. So I don’t understand why we’re so often made the target, when it’s in our nature to care for each other. I just hope more people recognize that we all have our own unique paths and pace of growth, and that there’s no need to pit women against one another.”
