Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo and Miss Universe Peru Tati Calmell prove that genuine friendship can blossom despite the fierce competition
While the Miss Universe stage can be downright intimidating, it’s relieving to know that Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo doesn’t feel alone in the competition, and neither does Miss Universe Peru Tati Calmell. In just a few months of training together, it seems that a friendship between the representatives of the Philippines and Peru has been formed—PERUPPINES.

People can pit women against each other especially on a stage where grace and elegance are of utmost importance. But time and time again, the Miss Universe candidates have proven that even in a competition, genuine connections and possibly lifelong friendships can be made. That is sisterhood for you.
During the preparation of Miss Universe 2024, roommates Manalo and Calmell have grown closer together. They have taken several photos with each other, expressing how blessed they are to experience their journey together not just as competitors but as sisters. Even the Miss Universe Philippines Instagram account can’t get enough of #PERUPPINES!

Miss Universe Philippines never misses a PERUPPINES moment, always grabbing the chance to take a photo or video of their genuine friendship, and both Filipinos and Peruvians can’t get enough of their friendship. The two beauty queens even had their respective teams meet each other, a great symbol of sportsmanship and genuine connection.
Despite the competition growing fiercer and the preliminaries a few hours away, the two aren’t fazed at all. The two posted another photo of them in Tenampa, a Mexican space with mariachis playing. And if that wasn’t enough to appease the PERUPPINES fans, Chelsea Manalo even posted a TikTok of them together.

Hopefully, both representatives of the Philippines and Peru make it to the finals together, not only to prove that friendship is greater than the competition but also to show the world how strong sisterhood is.
