In her Instagram post, Iza also disclosed the sex of her first child with husband Ben Wintle
Throughout her journey in show business, Iza Calzado has never shied away from honesty and transparency. As the daughter of an actor, she learned the ropes of being in the limelight at a young age. This meant disclosing the issues that involved her and her family. From an MMK episode on her life story to talking about her childhood in interviews, the actress uses her own experience like a friend who offers comfort and solidarity during your good and bad moments.
Now sharing her wonderful pregnancy story, Iza announces that she will be having a daughter in a heartfelt letter to her late mother.
In an Instagram post, the actress wrote, “Pretty soon, I will have my own child. A little Mary Ann, a little Iza. Your dreams and mine coming together for this beautiful blessing. […] As I prepare to become a mother, I ask for your continued guidance and support. This won’t be an easy ride but I know it will be an incredibly fulfilling one.”
Iza has always been an advocate for mental health and, in 2019, she opened up about her mental health journey, as well as her own mother’s mental illness.
“This sharing of her story is also my greatest gift to her,” Iza explained. “I want to let her know that I am no longer ashamed. And I understand her.”
As the actress pushes for more awareness and conversation about mental health, she is the co-founder and marketing director of She Talks Asia, an organization that pushes for gender equality, empowerment, and inclusion.
