There are fashion magazines, and then there are institutions. Harper’s BAZAAR belongs to the latter. Nearly 160 years after its founding, the storied title is setting its sights on the Philippines. Hearst Magazines International and AGC Power Holdings Corp. have announced the launch of Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines, arriving in November 2027 as the latest international fashion title to establish a local presence—and one with an expressly elevated brief.

Filipino fashion, art, design, photography, and culture have spent the past several years moving with increasing confidence across borders, finding audiences well beyond the archipelago. Designers are dressing international figures, Filipino creatives are contributing to global campaigns and productions, and a new generation of image-makers is making the Philippines increasingly difficult to overlook. Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines arrives with an ambition to capture precisely that moment.

Its proposition is distinctly international, but its point of view will be Filipino. Rather than treating local creativity as a footnote to a larger global conversation, the new edition intends to place Filipino voices within it. Fashion will sit alongside art, culture, beauty, craftsmanship, and the personalities shaping contemporary creative life, creating a platform that looks outward without losing sight of where its perspective begins.
At the heart of the edition will be fashion at its most rarefied: haute coutureHaute CoutureCustom-fitted, handmade high fashion created for individual clients in a Paris atelier. The term is legally protected and awarded by a French governing body, requiring strict standards of craftsmanship andGo to Haute Couture Glossary, exceptional craftsmanship, art, and luxury. The focus extends to the people behind the image—designers, artists, photographers, cultural figures, and other creative forces whose work is helping redefine how Filipino creativity is seen at home and abroad.
For AGC Power Holdings Corp., the launch adds another distinctly positioned title to an already expanding media portfolio.
“Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines is an important addition to our growing portfolio because it brings a distinct voice and perspective to the fashion market we serve. It will complement our existing titles while establishing its own space at the upper echelon of fashion—where haute couture, art, craftsmanship, culture, and luxury converge.”
Archie G. Carrasco, Chairman and CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corp.
The Philippine edition is being positioned not simply as another fashion publication, but as an address for the highest expressions of the disciplines surrounding fashion. Couture, in particular, suggests a publication interested in the painstaking, the collectible, and the almost impossibly well-made.
Hearst Magazines International sees the opportunity through a similarly contemporary lens.
“For nearly 160 years, Harper’s BAZAAR has remained truly fashionable by immersing its global audience in the culture and ideas of the moment,” said Kim St. Clair Bodden, Senior Vice President/Editorial & Brand Director, Hearst Magazines International. “It’s exciting to have Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines expand BAZAAR’s heritage, showcasing the work of emerging designers, photographers and storytellers, while capturing the forces and voices shaping Filipino culture today.”
BAZAAR has established its identity around fashion as a reflection of its cultural moment—where clothes meet art, celebrity meets image-making, and style becomes a way of reading the world around it. Bringing that sensibility to the Philippines opens the door to a local edition that can look at the country through its creative output rather than through familiar clichés.
The launch will span print, digital, social media, video, and live experiences, giving the title multiple ways to engage with a generation accustomed to consuming fashion far beyond the printed page. It also gives Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines room to move between established names and emerging talent, between couture ateliers and the photographers, artists, designers, and cultural figures building what comes next.
There is, naturally, still plenty under wraps. Editorial leadership, the inaugural issue, and launch activities are expected to be announced in the coming months.
A title with nearly 160 years of fashion history is coming to the Philippines. And if its arrival is anything to go by, the local fashion conversation is about to acquire a rather grand new address. Welcome, Harper’s BAZAAR Philippines.
