As Bea Alonzo and Vincent Co Show, There’s Beauty in Keeping Weddings Personal

Couples often want a wedding that’s an honest expression of the life they’re building together. Bea Alonzo and Vincent Co found theirs in an intimate civil ceremony.

When it comes to a wedding, it’s often expected to be a grand (and costly) affair. Even more so with celebrities and public figures, whose audiences have become accustomed to witnessing their biggest milestones. But in recent years, some of the world’s most recognizable couples have chosen to keep their celebrations away from the spotlight. Tom Holland and Zendaya, for example, kept their wedding private. With no official photos from the ceremony shared publicly, their fans are still negotiating for crumbs.

Bea Alonzo and Vincent Co, however, gave us a look into their own intimate civil wedding celebration when the actress shared a glimpse on her Instagram. Held on July 13 at Makati City Hall, they officially got married in a ceremony officiated by Mayor Nancy Binay.

For the occasion, Alonzo took a personal approach to her bridal preparations. She did her own makeup while relying on her trusted hair stylist, Ayu Manaog. Instead of a dress, she wore a white button-down blazer-suit paired with a lace-trimmed skirt. As for the still memories, the designated photographer was her close friend and business partner, Brina Secosana. Reports also shared that the couple kept the reception minimal, surrounded by a small circle of loved ones.

A grand wedding gown with a long train might not have been in the scene, but this civil wedding was incredibly personal. Intimate. Above all, this was theirs—and that made it even more beautiful.

Every couple comes with their own quirks and preferences. It’s entirely up to them, of course, whichever manner they wish to celebrate their union. But it’s also lovely to be reminded that weddings (and relationships, by extension) don’t necessarily ask for the kind of grandeur that social media finds befitting. It doesn’t matter if the rest of the world is watching—not when the person you love is certain in their choice to be a part of your life, in sickness and in health.
