EXCLUSIVE: Andrea Tetangco Empowers Mothers with “Opulence in Motion”

Coming together for Mother’s Day, the Filipino designer and Opulence Design Concept invite moms to reclaim their time, their style, and themselves.

By

There’s an old adage that says, “Home is where the heart is.” Metaphorically, it means your deepest sense of belonging lives with the people you love. But bring mothers into the equation, and the saying becomes more literal. Home is where your mom is. She’s folded into every corner of the house—woven through the colors and decor she chose, and other small details only she would think of.

Everywhere you turn, you’re reminded of her. It’s her presence that turns four walls and a roof into a place of warm familiarity. And this Mother’s Day, Filipino designer Andrea Tetangco and Opulence Design Concept explore this notion for their latest collaboration.

Opulence in Motion: Andrea Tetangco’s Warm Recognition of Moms

Tetangco has long focused on dressing women in ways that honor who they are, including mothers. “Being in the industry for eighteen years, I can say right now (that) I’ve mastered crafting for women,” she shares with MEGA. “Once you become a mother, things change. Your body, your insecurities—everything. So I think being a designer, that’s also my purpose: to understand their needs and to dress them in something that they’ll be comfortable in.”

Her new capsule lineup, titled “Opulence in Motion,” draws directly from the realities of motherhood. The silhouettes are purposefully voluminous yet refined, making each piece fitting for any time from morning to evening. “The core of this collection is actually the day-to-day activities of being a mother. There’s a lot of activities every day, like errands and responsibilities. But in the end, you still want to look good,” the designer says.

During the runway presentation, real mothers brought Tetangco’s vision to life. Atty. Karen Jimeno, Cat Arambulo-Antonio, IDr. Grace Tan, Linda Ley, Maru Go, Pinky Tobiano, Rachel Peters, Ruby Chua, Salome Uy, and Tricia Centenera walked the show, each styling herself according to her own preferences. “I wanted them to express themselves…(my collection) is really about being effortless but in a very elegant and timeless way,” Tetangco explains.

“Please yourself. It’s okay to dress up and feel good. If you take care of yourself, you can take care of your family and business. But it all starts from within.”

—ANDREA TETANGCO’S MESSAGE TO FILIPINO MOTHERS

Beyond the fashion, Opulence Design Concept owner Jinky Sy spoke about how thoughtful spaces influence how families live and present themselves. A hosting workshop led by Pinky Tobiano, together with floral designs from Petals of Love, showed these ideas in action, while the Interior Designer Spotlight with IDr. Vianca Añonuevo Favila featured the poetic Fornasetti set.

Together, these multi-hyphenate women invite moms to empower themselves, whether through fashion or personal taste. For as much as mothers are often praised for being selfless, Andrea Tetangco and Opulence Design Concept are choosing to remind moms to celebrate themselves.

“Opulence in Motion” remains available exclusively at the Opulence Design Concept Greenbelt 5 showroom until June 14.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coinciding with Mother’s Day, the “Opulence in Motion” capsule collection explores the powerful presence of motherhood and how a mother’s touch transforms physical spaces into homes. The collaboration between designer Andrea Tetangco and luxury home décor destination Opulence Design Concept explicitly honors, celebrates, and empowers modern mothers.

Drawing from her eighteen years of masterfully tailoring garments for women, Andrea Tetangco shapes her silhouettes to accommodate the bodily changes and personal insecurities that often accompany motherhood. Her designs feature purposefully voluminous yet refined cuts that ensure mothers feel incredibly elegant, timeless, and physically comfortable.

Rather than adhering to rigid, pre-determined fashion templates, the collection was brought to life by actual mothers who walked the runway. High-profile figures—including Atty. Karen Jimeno, Cat Arambulo-Antonio, Rachel Peters, and Tricia Centenera—were given full creative freedom to style the voluminous pieces according to their own personal preferences and self-expression.

Beyond the clothing presentation, the collaboration highlighted how thoughtful home interiors influence family life and presentation. The launch featured a dedicated hosting workshop led by Pinky Tobiano, custom floral arrangements from Petals of Love, and an Interior Designer Spotlight curated by IDr. Vianca Añonuevo Favila that showcased a poetic Fornasetti collection.

The exclusive “Opulence in Motion” capsule collection is not broadly distributed across traditional retail outlets. It remains available to the public for a limited time, showcased exclusively at the premium Opulence Design Concept showroom located in Greenbelt 5, Makati City, until June 14, 2026.
