Founder and Artistic Director of G-Force Dance Center, Georcelle Dapat-Sy, or “Teacher Georcelle,” students and non-students alike refer to her, is one of the most popular and in-demand choreographers and trainers in the Philippines for both celebrities and aspiring dancers. Her dance group G-Force is a staple in TV shows and concerts and the members are influencers and content creators in their own right.

Teacher Georcelle shares that when she was young, she thought dancing was the most natural thing to do with one’s body. “I grew up not knowing that there were people who didn’t know how to dance. My formal training in dance started when I was 10 years old. The many possibilities of movement intrigued my young self, which led me to a deep curiosity—not just in dancing, but in creating dance for others.” Eventually, her love and passion for dance led her to start her own dance company.
“Dance found me before I found myself.”
When it comes to creating choreography for her students and other dancers, Teacher Georcelle starts with the intention. This is what she focuses on whenever she mentors the pool of choreographers at the G-Force Dance Center. She asks them, “What message do we want to convey?” and “What emotion do we want to evoke?” From there, they draw inspiration from music, fashion, and even the personalities of the people they work with.
“Choreography is not just about steps—it’s about designing movements that will connect with both the viewers and the performers in a meaningful way,” she says.
As G-Force celebrates its 20th year anniversary, Teacher Georcelle has a lot of plans for the future. “It’s an opportunity to begin again—to nurture the next generation of dancers, this time with the maturity gained from years of experience and the skills to adapt to the ever-evolving culture and advancing technology,” she enthuses.
“If you want to bring it to a professional level, [you have to be a good dancer] because it will require technical skill and high standards,” Teacher Georcelle answers the query if one has to be a good dancer to dance. However, she adds, “Dance is for all. It’s a universal language that breaks barriers and connects people regardless of age, culture, or background. There is no right or wrong in dance—diversity makes it beautiful.”
So just dance!
