Of course, a beauty collection worthy of Barbie had to be as versatile as it was stunning. “We were intentional about ensuring representation and diversity. We focused on universal shades that complement a wide range of skin tones, making sure that every Filipina, regardless of complexion, can find something that suits her,” the founder explains. Barbie’s playful, vibrant, power pink aesthetic was worlds apart from Lovely Causemetics’ sleek, minimalist branding, so striking the perfect balance was key. “Blending two different brands together while staying true to both identities was a delicate process,” Geniston admits. Luckily, Mattel gave them creative freedom within brand guidelines, allowing them to merge Barbie’s signature pink with Lovely Causemetics’ signature silver. “We carefully selected a pink shade that complemented our branding while adding playful elements to excite Barbie fans.”
But beyond the eye-catching design, performance was non-negotiable. The team worked closely with formulators, rigorously testing multiple iterations to ensure the textures, finishes, and longevity met their high standards. “We needed to ensure that our products remained lightweight, inclusive, and suitable for all skin types,” Geniston says.
