Body Wash Isn’t Enough: How to Layer Body Care Products the Right Way

Much like your skincare routine, you should also have a body care regimen from your anti-bacterial bar soap, lotion to your signature scent

Your body wash isn’t enough to keep you clean, and your favorite bar soap isn’t enough to keep you smelling good all day long. And yes, you can both be squeaky clean and an absolute head-turner from your scent and glowing skin. Much like your day and night skincare regimen, you should also have a routine for showering to maximize the ingredients of your body care products. Here’s how you should be layering on your body care products—the right way.

Cleansing and Exfoliating

First and foremost, cleanse with an anti-bacterial bar soap to remove dirt, sweat, and other impurities, giving your skin a nice, clean slate to layer on your other products. About once to twice a week, exfoliate your skin with your favorite body scrub, removing dead skin cells and promoting better absorption of your body care products. Be gentle also when you’re exfoliating, or else you could cause irritation. Lastly in the cleansing department is body wash, which deep cleanses and at the same time, moisturizes your skin, leaving it refreshed. Finish it off with a deodorant to control body odor and for clean and fresh armpits.

Moisturizing

You’re out of the shower, your skin cleansed, moisturized, and hydrated, but the routine doesn’t stop there. For supple and soft skin, apply lotion to lock in the moisture, reducing dry spots and flaky skin. Afterward is body oil, which not only gives your skin that extra hydration, but also nourishment, giving your skin a beautiful and healthy glow. What’s amazing about body oils is that they work on most skin types, and while they’re not necessary for most skin types, it’s still a great way to get that extra healthy glow. People with eczema-prone skin, on the other hand, would appreciate a natural organic body oil to retain that moisture.

Fragrance

Now that your body is clean, healthy, and glowing, it’s time to spritz on your favorite scents. While it’s not necessary to layer on both body mist and perfume, you’re guaranteed a fragrance that will last you all day. While body mists also give you your preferred scent, its low concentration of oil doesn’t make it last all day. Essentially a lighter and softer version of a perfume, it makes a good everyday scent. However, if you want a fragrance that lasts you all day, layer on both body mist and perfume. Layering on scents is a whole other world to discover, and you can see that by simply trying on different scent combinations, giving you complexity and personality just from your fragrance.

While it’s not absolutely necessary to layer on these body care products every single day, it does change the way you look at your body, making you realize that it should also receive the same love and care as our extensive skin care regimen. Give your body the love it deserves!
