A casual conversation with a local manufacturer led to the launch of Watertint, the lip and cheek tint that introduced Lovely Causemetics to the market. “As an introvert, I rarely start conversations unless it’s about business, but that one moment changed everything,” Geniston recalls. Taking a leap of faith, she produced 10,000 pieces—selling out in just three weeks. Looking back, she saw a clear pattern: taking bold steps leads to big opportunities. “Now, achieving a historic collaboration with Barbie feels like a full-circle moment. It’s a testament to how passion, perseverance, and taking chances can lead to something truly special.”

But while they were playing around with pink, their BEYONDBLUR High Coverage Concealer was making serious waves on TikTok. “They told me they discovered Lovely Causemetics through a recommendation from the Barbie Philippines team. I believe this happened around the time our concealer was going viral, and it’s amazing how the right product at the right time can open doors.”

Then came the email that changed everything. “I’ll never forget that date: May 2, 2024,” the founder tells MEGA. “At first, I couldn’t believe it. I even thought it might be a scam, but then they invited me to their office in Quezon City.” Stepping into their pink meeting room, surrounded by decades of Barbie history, the reality of the moment hit her. “That was when it finally sank in. This was real. And with that realization came an overwhelming mix of excitement and pressure. I wanted to represent Lovely Causemetics and this collaboration in the best way possible. It was a big moment—not just for me, but for Filipino beauty brands—and I was determined to make it count.”

This Barbie is a Boss

Bringing Barbie-level magic to life took leadership, vision, and a whole lot of teamwork. As both a founder and a hands-on leader, Lovely Geniston was at the helm of every decision. “Leading this collaboration from concept to reality was both exciting and challenging, but it taught me valuable leadership lessons,” she shares.

It allowed me to focus on R&D (research and development), ensuring that the formulas and shades were exactly what I envisioned.”

Beyond expanding her team, Geniston had to strike the perfect balance between Lovely Causemetics’ sleek, minimalist aesthetic and Barbie’s playful, larger-than-life persona—a challenge that demanded both creative vision and strategic delegation. “I had to make sure that every aspect—from product development to packaging and marketing—was handled with precision and passion. This collaboration was bigger than anything we had done before, and it required a unified vision and seamless teamwork to bring it to life.”

More than anything, this experience reinforced the power of staying true to her brand while leveling up to meet global standards. “Ultimately, this journey taught me that big opportunities come with big responsibilities, and success comes from vision, persistence, and a great team.”

Her advice? Build a solid foundation before chasing global recognition. “Make sure your brand has a clear identity, high-quality products, and a loyal community,” she continues. And just like Barbie, don’t be afraid to evolve. “I used to be hands-on with everything, but learning to trust my team and delegate helped us grow.”
