Once upon a time, there was a little girl who dreamed. She dreamed of stepping into the light, of having a stage, of using her voice not only to perform but to touch hearts. Actress Belle Mariano still carries that within her, though the dream has grown bigger, bolder, and far more real than she could have ever imagined.

“I’ve always been a dreamer,” the actress reflects. “I used to be that kid who just dreamed of being in the industry, to have a platform, to be able to inspire other people.” It is a sentiment she has repeated before, but one that continues to ring true. Her younger self longed to make others happy, and now, standing on the cusp of a new era, Mariano holds that promise close.
The only difference is that she has learned to be less harsh on herself. “I think I’ve acknowledged that that’s where growth starts from—if you become more self-aware with who you are, and just knowing what your weaknesses and strengths are.”

Growth, after all, is the story she is living now. No longer confined to old molds of stardom, Mariano is birthing an independence with a self-possession that feels refreshing at a time of unnecessary love teams that may or may not be genuine or PR-related. And with that step comes discovery. “When you dream, you’ll discover more of your flaws, discover more of who you are. And I think it’s good to acknowledge that it’s okay for us to fall down and fail. Because if you fall, there’s only one way to go, and that’s up. That’s a motto I live by every day.”

Yet in an industry that often builds pedestals only to topple them, expectations are heavy things to come by. Mariano admits she feels the weight of them, but instead of letting pressure define her, she chooses to transform it. “Yes, it’s okay to get pressured, but not to a point that it will pull you back from what you love doing,” she says.
“Use this pressure as a tool that would drive you to do better. By the end of the day, it’s you who knows who you are—and not those who criticize you for who you are.”

This realization has made her a muse for a generation of dreamers, though Mariano is quick to share the mantle. “Everyone could be a role model, as long as you have good intentions in your heart. Each and every one of us could be anything we want to be. It’s never too late for us,” she insists, as though speaking to that little girl she once was—and to every young person who wonders if their dream might be too far away.

As she embraces her era of becoming, Mariano envisions the kind of leading lady she hopes to be remembered as—not the flawless image framed by others, but one written in her own words. “Someone who is empowered. Someone who pursued her dream. Someone who dreams big and continues to dream big. And someone who can inspire young girls to dream big as well.”
The fairy tale continues—but this time, Belle Mariano is doing it on her own terms. Not the dreamer asleep in the story, but the one wide awake, daring enough to live it.
