NYFW S/S26 Reminds Us—Beauty Makes the Look

Without the blue shadow at Anna Sui or the gilded lids at Prabal Gurung, fashion is half-dressed.

Forgive a beauty girl for squinting past the clothes a little too soon at fashion month. But how could you not? Not only are the heavyweights of backstage (Isamaya Ffrench, Pat McGrath, and their ilk) just doing makeup; they’re staging full-blown spectacles in twenty-minute call times. To show you what we mean, we’ve rounded up our favorite beauty statements at the spring/summer New York runways.

Dreamy Blues at Anna Sui

Just when you thought frosted blue lids were buried in the ‘00s, here comes Dame Pat McGrath. She brought them back at Anna Sui’s bohemian dreamworld, making the case for digging through your mom’s makeup, or finally giving icy shadow a second chance.

’50s Dollhouse Curls and Bare Skin at Sandy Liang

Sandy Liang’s spring was all bows, plaid, and doll-inspired nostalgia, a wardrobe pulled straight from childhood dress-up. The beauty followed suit: toy-box curls and foundation-free skin that made the memory lane fantasy land, too.

White Lashes at Eckhaus Latta

The collection’s worn-in ease set the tone for the season, but the real surprise was in the blinkers. Natural hair and clean skin framed lashes coated chalk-white: a detail so subtle it felt like an inside joke for the front row.

Cat Lashes at Collina Strada

Light vs. dark, whimsy vs. lace—Collina Strada staged so many contrasts on the helipad. But leave it to Isamaya Ffrench to make them land, painting and pasting neon feline lashes and sharpening the fashion into something feral.

Flecks of Faith at Prabal Gurung

Forget halos. In a church filled with choirs, Gurung’s angels wore gold-dusted lids that caught the light better than stained glass. It’s like the quickest way to holy is still shimmer you can wear out the door.

Perilla Fringe at Tory Burch

K-pop stars Sakura and Rosé may have made perilla fringe a fan-cam fixture, but Tory Burch thickened it for the runway. Side-swept and temple-skimming, it gave the classic and feminine fashion a dose of Y2K pop star attitude.
