A flapper fringe, a flamenco rose—Catriona Gray shimmered in motion and meaning in custom Glademir Echavarre.

For MEGA Ball’s 15th year, an evening of Fashion + Dance, Catriona Gray embodied both. Her Glademir Echavarre look was a masterclass in movement: a sleek black two-piece set off by a flapper fringe skirt and a single red rose tucked in the bun of her hair. There was no mistaking the nods to flamenco and the golden age of jazz—genres known for their rhythm, their drama, and their glamour.

“It’s a little bit of a different look than what I usually go for,” Gray shared. “I’ve incorporated a little bit of inspiration from ballroom salsa dancers in my hair, so you can see the sculptural elements and then the flower. It’s not necessarily referencing one certain silhouette or person, but I just wanted to have fun with the theme tonight which is Dance.” That same spirit carried through the entire look: fluid and festive.

The designer revealed that her look was inspired by a fusion of dance eras and genres, saying, “The look is like a hybrid of Flamenco and Flapper.” What mattered most to Gray, Echavarre shared, was movement; how the garment would sway and flow as she moved through the night.

More than a beautiful face or a Miss Universe titleholder, Gray has consistently channeled her influence toward purpose. Through her work with Young Focus, a non-profit focused on education, she continues to advocate for children’s futures with clarity and conviction. That passion, much like her presence at the ball, is never static—it’s lived, breathed, and in constant motion.

In a room filled with couture and choreography, hers was the look that shimmered without trying, moved without effort, and reminded everyone watching: you don’t have to be a dancer to know how to move.
