There’s something about the –ber months that instantly shifts the mood, especially in the Philippines, where the Christmas season starts in September. Though the traffic gets mysteriously heavier, the air feels cooler and the mood lighter, and dinner plans start to sound like the best idea ever. Here, this stretch of time is more than just a countdown to Christmas, it’s a season of togetherness and the best reason for gathering around good food, stories, and the kind of laughter that lingers long after the plates are cleared.

And if there’s one thing Filipinos know by heart, it’s that when it comes to holiday meals, only the best will do.

That’s exactly what Canadian Beef brings to the table. It has the level of quality and care that elevates any dish it touches. Raised in the clean, open spaces of Canada and fed with premium grains like barley, corn, and wheat, it’s known for its beautiful marbling, tenderness, and flavor. Since it’s still fairly new to the Philippine market, Canadian beef comes along as a special treat. It’s beef that doesn’t just taste good—it feels good to serve.

An Afternoon with Canadian Beef

At the Savor Canada Luncheon held at Dominion Cellar in Makati, that promise of flavor came to life. It was a story told through six courses—each one revealing a different side of what makes Canadian beef so special.

Canadian Beef Tartare

The lunch began with a Canadian Beef Tartare, classically prepared and beautifully balanced. No frills, no distractions — just the clean, natural taste of quality beef. It’s a personal favorite, because that’s the dish you know you’re getting the best quality of beef.

Then came the Albondigas, handcrafted meatballs simmered in a tomato sauce so rich and comforting, it felt like something you’d want to eat slowly, just to make it last longer.

The next dish was comfort food elevated to extraordinary: Red Wine-Braised Canadian Beef with Mashed Potatoes. It was the definition of slow-cooked perfection. Tender, deeply flavorful, and paired with buttery mashed potatoes that caught every bit of that rich red wine sauce.

Of course, what’s a meal without rice? The Canadian Denver Steak with Oven-Baked Mushroom Rice brought out a heartier, more indulgent side. The steak was juicy and full of character, complemented by the earthy, aromatic mushroom rice that made the dish feel cozy and festive at once.

Then came the Canadian Beef Tataki with Ponzu and Smoked Hollandaise—light, fresh, and a little unexpected. The citrusy ponzu balanced the smoky richness of the hollandaise, creating a beautiful contrast that lingered just enough. It was my favorite because I haven’t tasted a beef dish quite like it before.

Finally, the Canadian Ribeye Steak arrived—the classic steak, perfect on its own. Perfectly cooked, served with a green peppercorn sauce and caramelized piquillo peppers, it was the meal’s crescendo—bold, elegant, and undeniably memorable.

The Difference You Can Taste

Each course highlighted one truth: great beef doesn’t need much else. When the ingredient itself is exceptional, it shines on its own.

Canadian beef’s distinct flavor and texture come from where it’s raised—on the vast grasslands of Canada, in the cool and clean air, and with some of the best grain in the world. This natural environment, combined with generations of expertise from over 60,000 Canadian beef farmers and ranchers, produces meat that’s consistently tender and full of character.

It’s not just about premium taste. There’s great satisfaction in the knowledge that what you’re serving your family has been raised with integrity and care, using sustainable practices that honor both the land and the animals.

Holiday Tables, Elevated

As the holidays draw closer, the idea of cooking something special becomes more meaningful. It’s not just about preparing food, it’s about creating moments. Whether it’s an intimate dinner for two or a lively family feast, serving a dish made with Canadian beef feels like an instant upgrade.

You can turn a quiet Sunday into steak night with a beautifully seared Canadian Ribeye, or impress your guests with slow-braised short ribs that taste like they came from your favorite restaurant. The best part? You don’t have to go far to find it. Canadian Beef is now available at The Marketplace, Robinsons, and Shopwise, ready for any occasion that calls for something truly special.

Why It Belongs at Your Table

For Filipinos, food is a love language. We love to dish out our affection in serving the best dishes. We take pride in the effort behind every dish, the ingredients we choose, and the people we choose to feed.

Canadian beef fits perfectly into that sentiment. It’s premium without being pretentious, indulgent but accessible, familiar yet elevated. It’s for those moments when you want to give your loved ones something exceptional, something that shows just how much you care.

There’s inimitable joy that comes with serving something extraordinary. Because the truth is, the holidays aren’t just about abundance. They’re about thoughtfulness—choosing ingredients that carry stories, quality, and intention.

Canadian beef captures that feeling perfectly. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, flavor, and connection — the kind of ingredient that turns any table into a special occasion.
