THE DIARY AS A FIRST STUDIO

Valentina’s love affair with music began in the most intimate of settings: her own notebook. As a child, she described songwriting as “a form of therapy,” a private sanctuary where she could translate crushes, insecurities, and fleeting hopes into verses and melodies. The diary started out as a place to vent but became her first studio, a space where a shy kid who struggled to speak her mind aloud could give voice to an inner world that otherwise would’ve otherwise remained silent. Those early scribbles laid the groundwork for a career built on genuine self-expression, proving that even the most modest personal practice can become the seed of a larger purpose.

“The thing, really, with my music, is that it’s very honest, and it’s really human,” Valentina confessed. “As humans, we just go through different kinds of emotions. and most of the time, I’m quite cheerful, and I try to see the positive side, but I realized how important it is to really feel every feeling that you feel. More than ever recently. Even with my therapist, we’ve been speaking about this, and she said something very interesting, but she said that in my music, it’s the only time where I allow myself to be very, very honest with what I feel. Maybe in real life, I have trouble, you know, expressing emotions like anger. I feel bad if I get angry at someone else, but in my music, I never lie, it’s what it is. It’s like my therapy, really.”

VALENTINA PLOY’S transition from a private diary writer to a live show performer required deliberate practice and a willingness to be vulnerable.

TURNING PRIVATE PASSION INTO PUBLIC PURSUIT

Dreams rarely follow a straight line, and Valentina’s path was no exception. Determined to turn her private passion into a public career, she threw herself into every opportunity she could find. From beauty pageants to “X Factor Italy,” and eventually “The Voice,” each audition served as a test run, a way to see whether her aspirations could survive the pressure of competition and public scrutiny. By stepping onto televised stages, she gained exposure, honed her performance skills, and learned that ambition thrives when paired with relentless action. Her story also shows that imagination and creativity alone isn’t enough. Concrete effort is the engine that propels a dream forward.

“in my music, it’s the only time where I allow myself to be very, very honest with what I feel,” VALENTINA PLOY SHARES.

CELEBRATING THE SMALL WINS

When asked whether she ever felt she’d “made it,” Valentina offered a refreshing perspective. “I don’t think I had that moment yet,” she said. “I don’t feel like, oh, I’ve made it, and I don’t know if I’ll ever have that moment because I feel like it’s just a constant journey.” She doesn’t point to a single, defining moment; instead, she celebrates a series of small victories: a thrill of opening for Coldplay, the joy of hearing a fan sing her lyrics back, the quiet gratitude after a heartfelt backstage interaction.

Valentina added, “Also, when I went to the Philippines for the first time, and I had this small showcase with the fans for the first time, it was the first moment that I realized that there’s actually people outside my country that know my songs and they were screaming the lyrics back at me! That felt really special.”

Each fan message, each handshake, each social media share adds a brick to the foundation of a lasting career. The “moment” isn’t a flash of fame; it’s a mosaic of experiences that, piece by piece, shape a sense of accomplishment.
