When it came time for Robi Domingo to get down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend Maiqui Pineda, he popped the question amidst the world’s busiest Shibuya crossing in Tokyo, Japan
Looking like a perfect Korean drama moment, Robi Domingo and Maiqui Pineda shared snaps of the marriage proposal in an Instagram post, wherein they have also been receiving congratulatory messages and support from their friends in the showbiz industry.
After arriving straight from Japan just a couple days ago, Robi shared in an exclusive interview that that he would like to extend his appreciation to those who are continuously celebrating with them. He added that right now, they are enjoying the moment and are still in the initial stage of planning for the wedding.
The proposal was well-planned by the Filipino host, as shared in an interview with Bernadette Sembrano. He also mentioned that the two started as acquaintances as they frequently saw each other in several ABS-CBN parties. Robi added that he did not know Maiqui was “the one” at first because his initial intention was to be there for her, considering both of them came from their respective break-ups at the time.
The Idol Philippines host exchanged numbers with his now-fiancé that same night, and they never stopped messaging each other since. Robi felt that talking to Maiqui happened naturally as he jokingly revealed that she was the one who initiated the conversation.
As the relationship grew further, the couple saw that their goals and family values were aligned. And at a Star Magic halloween party, Robi Domingo finally brought Maiqui as his plus one, making their relationship known to the public.
According to Robi, he felt content and convinced that he was doing the right thing with Maiqui beside him. He described her as the lady who constantly brings him back on track of his purpose.
Their engagement was witnessed by their good friends and family, including Maiqui’s twin and celebrity couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, who also helped Robi in making the romantic gesture happen.
